BottlePoured at 59F very dark. Almost black. Aroma is faint, smokey toasted, hoppy. Tastes definately smoked, and a fairly strong hopps content. The lingering smokey tang is haning around a while and there’s plenty of carbonation for everyone. Finish does not have that smooth soft feel that I like in this style. Just OK and for almost $4 I probly wont get it again.

Very dark indeed. Thin brown head. Rich aroma, plummy with raisins, mocha. Mildly acrid and husky. Rich and smooth flavor, well integrated and velvety. Roasted character is strong, with mild plummy and figgy fruitiness. Somwhat acidic. A woody and herbal hop finish is apparent upon very close inspection, but this beer is clearly a dominantly malty concoction. Alcohol is exceedingly well placed despite a nice warming in the chest. Not the most complex of beasts, but a well made one. Could use a drier finish IMO.

Not quite as good as last year’s version but I liked it well enough. Pours golden orange with a thick off-white head. Nice lacing through the entire glass. The aroma is big on malt, along with some hops, butter and alcohol. Rich-bodied and smooth despite the bitter hops and borderline harsh alcohol. There are also malt and grapefuit flavors in the mix. Despite being a little rough this is a good Barley Wine.

In a rare occurance, this beer is pretty much exactly what the commerical description says it’s like - practically glowing orange in color, with a large but quickly diminishing head - aroma of citrus, spice, and a belgian sugar thing going on - very spicy and peppery flavor - quite yeasty, grassy, grainy - quite saison/beire de garde like, as the description says - yup, the banana esters are there, too, along with a kick of lime in the finish - quite easy to drink, which, with the alcohol content, could get you into trouble - good, but I’m not sure its worthy of the epic series.

Thanks to Eyedrinkale for bringing this to Brewtopia ’04! Clear light amber color with minimal head. The aroma is of light malt carrying a bit of citrusy sweetness with it. The flavor is sweet and spicy as well. The only bitterness comes as the finish fades. Good, but not as remarkable as some of the other Stone creations.

Draught at Brewtopia ’04 Pours black with a thin head. Rich chocolate aroma and smooth chocolate flavor. Roast malts are there, but not overpowering. Very well done Imp Stout, wish I could get this here in Tennessee.

This beer sure gets around...hazy golden ale. Slightly toasty, almost champagne-like aroma. Peachy flavour, a little yeasty, with plum, apple and pear as well. Ok, so it’s estery. Slight grassy hop note. Slightly yeasty, moderately sweet finish.

Deep gold, off white head.Yeasty clove nose.Flavor of yeast, coriander and cloves with medium strong alcohol heat in finish. To be fair, this is an interesting beer, but I don’t like this style, or this beer.

This is my favorite Stone product. +++Coming in the typical 22 oz bottle from Stone. As always I loved the art/write up. It pours an opaque orange-red color. Small tan-orange head. Really a very pretty beer. The aroma is grapefruit and sugary sweet. The texture is thick and sweet. The flavor is sweet, malty and very hoppy. Far better balanced than most of Stone’s beers. The hop presence dominates but does not overwhelm. There is enough sweet maltiness to balance the beer quite well. Another hophead’s delight!

Bottle. Golden beer with a good white head. Aroma is a mixture of yeast, hops, lime, and malt with the lime and banana dominating. Taste is of yeast and malt with a little citrus - a slightly heavier wit beer with more depth. Very good beer that finishes clean, smooth, and has you wanting more. Alcohol is there, but not too strong. Not your typical Stone and I wish it would become a regular... Should not be classified as a Belgian strong ale - much less sweet.
