Description
Founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing has come a long way since opening in San Diego County in 1996. Now the ninth-largest craft brewer in the U.S., we operate brewing facilities on both coasts – Escondido, California and Richmond, Virginia. On top of making badass beers for over two decades, we operate restaurants and tap rooms across three continents as well as the largest craft-centric beer distribution business in the U.S. Our beers are available in all 50 states and more than 40 countries worldwide.
Stone Brewing was bought in 2022 by Sapporo Brewing (Japan) and in 2026 by Duvel Moortgat (Belgium).

Bottled, early 2k9 vintage. Pours a darkish cloudy amber with small dissipating head. Aroma is floral and hoppy. Taste is a bit bitter and woody. This guy might need some more time to age.

I thought this was a brown ale. Oh well. Draft at waterfront. Dark. Pleasant, not as hoppy as promised

Bottled. A pretty darned good IPA. Pours gold w/creamy head, bitter as hell, w/some citrus. A good IPA but not too extreme.

Not a huge fan of the mega-hops style but pretty good. Pours gold w/white head, strong hops, alcohol flavors predominate.

Bottle. Pours dark, dark, dark. I mean really dark. Smallish head. Chocolatey aroma with rich flavor. Shockingly, not super heavy, IMO, a very good Imperial Russian.

7 week old can
A: Crystal clear pale gold with a short, quick head.
S: Light sweetish floral and toasty aroma.
T: Fairly bitter and dry with toasty and citrusy notes. Not quite seltzery.
M: Stiff carbonation, very lightweight with a clean, dry finish.
O: No Go-To but better than a lot of light IPAs around now. I'd buy a 6er!

Can from Lupe Pintos. Black body with a thick tan head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Faint lacing. Aroma of chillies, chocolate and cinnamon. Flavour of spices, milk chocolate and green pepper. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A tasty, interesting beer.
