On tap at VCBW Fest, pours a hazy amber with a small white head. Nose brings out sweet cereal malt and German yeast. Flavour is along the same lines, with a sweet cereal malt and German lager yeast quality. Pretty clean and pleasant. Quite good.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was hazy golden yellow with floaties. No worries, I read that this is unfiltered. A slim finger’s worth of head quickly dies and doesn’t leave any lacing.
The smell had a light sweet lemon graced with some sweet corn.
The taste copied the smell pretty much spot on. There was a light sweet sticky aftertaste with a wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a super nice sessionable aspect to it. Carbonation came across nice and crisp and sweet smooth.
Overall, good kolsch I’d have again. Would love to drink this on Summer’s days.

This was poured into a pint glass. I didn’t have a pilsener glass with me. From the can.
The appearance was a mostly semi hazy yellow color with a soft amount of carbonation seen rising to fill a rapidly dieing head. Barely any lacing showed at all.
The smell had sweet corn with no metallic aroma surrounding it. That’s a plus since a fair amount of canned AAL’s can have that off putting flavor to it.
The taste was sweet and lead to a sweet smooth aftertaste and semi watery finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a good sessionability about it. It had a really nice carbonation about it.
Overall, when one looks at this as an AAL, you realize that there is far worse on the market than this for the style. I’d take this over a Budweiser any day.

This was poured into a stemmed pilsener.
The appearance was a translucent mild brown to red color. Light carbonation was seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a rapidly dissipating one finger white foamy head. Barely any lacing touched the glass.
The smell had a sweet rich nutty to speckled caramel glossing over top of some light chocolate.
The taste followed the nose. A rich nutty aftertaste led to a sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly sweet sessionable feel rolling over my mouth.
Overall, I saw this was a good English Dark Mild Ale I would have again. I had another and it went well with the seafood fettucine I had.

Bottle, pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, marzipan and caramel. Flavour reveals notes of dark fruits, toffee, and bready malt. A little light on the palate, with a dry bready and caramely finish. Was surprised to find this was called a stout. Decent, but not a stout.

Can from West Coast Liquor, Burnaby
Dark mahogany color, with red shades, clear, and with small compact head. Some smell of caramel and vegetables, vulgar. Round and sweet mouthfeel; it has a sweet caramel flavor, light nuttiness and quite evident metallic aftertaste; low bitterness.
Better than Tennent’s Super if you look at getting drunk, but still an uninteresting beer.

Bottle from Boundary Crossing, Vancouver
Golden hazy color with small compact head. Aroma of grainy malt, some bread, light chamomile. Semi sweet mouthfeel; cereally malt flavor, ordinary bitterness level, a bit fruity. Not a Barley Wine, somewhere between English Strong Ale and Strong Lager.

Bottle at CapFlu’s Blomster Bash
Brown color. Oxidized aroma, a bit fruity, cork, wet wood. Sweet caramel flavor with a bit of nuts and no beer character.
Weird.
