Description
Wolter de Bes, a born entrepreneur with 10 years of experience, is the driving force behind one of Netherlands most beautiful cafés.

CASPAR, a hospitable and modern ‘brown’ grandcafé, located in Klarendal, Arnhem,

His passion for craft beers and his hospitality, made Wolter decide to serve his clients more than just the standard. Over the past few years Wolter has come up with a lot of ideas for beers. These ideas are getting realized via Brewery CC by Oldskool since all beers from the CC brewery are brewed with the help of Dennis Kort from Oldskool Brewery. The brewery does not have the intention to market its beers more widely, neither in retail nor in the hospitality industry.

Bottle. Color: Murky brown, very thin beige head. Aroma: Caramel and dark malt, licorice, sweetish Rum notes. Taste: Dark and caramel malt, some roasted malt too, licorice, hints of roasted nuts, raisins, cocoa. Subtle sweetish and bit boozy Rum, getting a little stronger when standing longer. Going towards an imperial Porter or Dark Ale with a little less carbonation. Not like an original English Mild. Minus point for that. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Malty with hoppy background. Hop coming a little forwards at the finish. Moderate sweet and bitter, just over moderate bitterness at dry-ish finish.

Bottle at home, best before 20-08-2021, oops... orange amber beer, small head. Beer has some floaty bits, Aroma is wheat, malt, hop, sweet. Taste is the same, wheat, fruit, bitter, hint of some brett or tartness or whatever, not even getting what the others are getting. still not that bad,

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', best before June 2026. Murky, brown with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, a bit roasty and minimally fruity aroma of caramel, chocolate, vanilla and oak. Quite sweet, malty, gently bitter, slightly roasty and minimally fruity taste of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, toasted nuts and light oak, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, slightly boozy, moderately roasty and a bit woody finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Still on the bland side but a little more interesting than the base variant.

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', best before June 2024. Murky, dark brown with a thin, foamy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity aroma of caramel, chocolate, toasted nuts, red berries and light raisins. Gently sweet, malty, a little roasty, moderately fruity taste of caramel, cocoa, toasted nuts, some raisins, light leaves and a touch of red berries, followed by a short, quite bitter, a bit roasty finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Interesting beer, quite malty but with a nice bitterness to freshen things up, quite close to an Imperial Porter. Imperial Milds are always an interesting tick, the one by Buxton / Oedipus / Oproer from 2016 (recipe also by Ron Pattinson) is my favourite though.
