A golden pils with no head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light solvents notes, a bit cloying. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with light grassy hops, banana, weird. On tap at Arrow and Loon.

On tap at Pub Italia. Pours a dark brown colour with a creamy mocha head, average retention and thick creamy lacing all around. Big coffee nose with roasted malts. Malty aromas overall with hints of nuts. Smooth wet mouthfeel, wishing it was a little creamier, but still nice. Lightly sweet taste with caramel over the roasted malts. Not really salty as expected from the oysters. The finish gets dryer with time. Wish it had more punch overall, but a decent session darker brew all around. Where is the oysters’ saltiness ?

Draft. Dark brown colour. The aroma is sweetish dark malts. The palate is balanced, though I don’t get much oyster or saltiness. It’s ok.

Poured with an off-white head with lacing. The beer itself was a clear very dark brown. Nose full of toasted malts. The taste similarly full of malts, a wee grass, toast and roast up the wazoo. Finished a bit rough with carbon and little old smoke.

Summer 2012 Now this was a good beer, a gift from my uncle who got it at the brewery up near his cottage. It poured a clear brown-amber with an off-white head. Mine was the OAKED version, as such the caramel & toffee of the brown were subdued by the woodsy oak caracter of the barrel. Quite good stuff.

Bottle picked up at the brewery. Pour a rich brown colour, with a thick tan head that sticks around for a while. Aroma of molasses, and malt. Taste...yep they oaked this right up. Strong flavours of oak, with malts coming in second and oddly a touch of ...uh... cheese. (Writing that is a first.) Hops take a seat way at the back of the bus. Definitely an interesting brew and worth a try. Might not drink it all night but might go nice with a selection of cheeses.

Pours cloudy dark without any head or lacing. Aroma of cherry with some bitter chocolate. Average carbonation. Components don’t come together super well. Finishes bitter with light sour note. Tap at Wellington Gastropub.

Can’t really taste the oyster much, just tastes mostly like a stout with a little saltiness. Pours black without much head or malt. Some roast malt and smokiness. Average carbonation. Finishes bitter. Tap at barhop.

A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, bitter chocolate coffee and licorice, very nice. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with good coffee notes, licorice, alcohol, nice. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest 2013.
