Unlike large commercial brands, Long Mynd Cider only uses cider apples. The cider apples are milled, pressed then over winter they ferment with their own wild yeasts converting the sugar to alcohol. This takes up to six months. There’s never any rush.
After fermentation our cider is conditioned in Scotch whisky barrels before going into the dispensing tanks.
We use our own apples and at least three other local varieties to create a unique flavour and taste.
We think our French Sambron press is the only one in the UK. Made in 1958, it was towed between farms and the owner was paid in juice.

Panda at home, thanks to Ed Danlo, 29/06/24. Almost clear pale golden yellow with a fast escaping white head. Nose is apple skins, light sugars, straw, modest funk. Taste comprises apple core, grass, hedgerow, herb, icing sugar, faint barnyard. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation, drying close. Okay drop if a touch overly sweet.

75cl bottle from Appleyards. Pours a clear deep gold. Aroma has rich golden apple. Flavour profile is lightly caramelised, fruity sweet, very light carb, fairly clean with a soft tannic fuzz on the close. Quite accessible, not too rustic. Ok.

Cromwell's Tap House, Shrewsbury. 24th May 2024, Cider and Sausage Fest, shared half-pint from a box. Had a chat with barman about this one, as I couldn't find a Long Mynd 'Original' anywhere on the WWW. I suspect this is either a 'one off' or actually one of their regular Ciders re-named?

Box, half pint @ Shrewsbury CAMRA Real Ale Festival 2023. Pours a relatively clear deep gold. Tasted divine after numerous tasters of very amateurish, terrible cask ale. Great medium blend, fleshy apple fruit complimented nicely with gentle vanilla hints. Really good.
