I have not been impressed at all with this brewer. sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium brown color with red highlights and a very large tan head. The aroma is sweet and malty and rather pleasant. The flavor is strong with roasted malts though a bit dry and has a light tang underneath. The finish has a hint of bakers chocolate. Not a great beer but not too bad for the style - though I am not much of a fan of brown ales. Acceptable.

This is a rather unimpressive beer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a pale golden color with a large white head. The aroma is sour macro tangy with some light fruit and a mildly skunky finish. The flavor is dry and bitter with floral hops. There is no body to speak of and there is a sour macro tang underneath.

This is my first beer from this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bronze color with a large tan head. The aroma is very strong pine resin. The flavor is very strong pine resin and is very bitter with fruity undertones. There is a long floral hop finish. The hops really dominate this one. Nice.

2005 bottle from FlacoAlto and Herbjones consumed (one of them) on 1/18/06.
Large, frothy, sandy-white head, very strong retention, tons of lace. Copper-tangerine-skin tinted golden-beige body. Light haze, growing stronger towards the end of the bottle. Modest filtration, bottle conditioned. Small bubbles stream upwards methodically. The nose produces a grand cascade-like citrus/floral hoppiness, with traces of pine resin and light perfumy notes carried on by a hint of faint, dry alcohol. Mango skins and melons, light caramel and a touch of b-vitamins as it gets to the bottom of the bottle. Quite a bit of grapefruit dominance, overall. Fresh and of medium to medium-high strength, but not terrifically complex. Flavor begins, quite unexpectedly, on a very resinous note. Crystallized gland secretions on dried hops are all I think of at first (leading to thoughts of other crystally dried substances that resemble hops....). Ahem. Dry grapefruit, unripened peaches and light bitterness are set tastily against a pretty straightforward, light caramel maltiness with plenty of pale malt sugariness. Soft, fuzzy bitterness washes away the malt sweetness, with a leafy, green hop plant-like flavor. While the malt complexity is not very high, the compact bubbles produce a soft, thoroughly engaging carbonation and the lack of skimping on the malt leads to a supple texture (not to mention the low filtration). Nothing new on the scene, by a longshot, but very well-executed. Surprisingly low bitterness for all the C hop use. Some acidity is inevitably noticeable but in no way disruptive. No alcohol apparency or yeast apparency. Would like to see some more malt complexity for sure to add balance/variation to the resinous-grapefruity hop schedule.

My thanks to Darkelf for this one. Aroma is floral hops, alcohol, and very light smoke. Bronze with a lasting head. Flavor is crisp and clean. Medium-bitter hops, and some citrus. Overall a nice blend of citrus and floral characteristics.

Thanks to Killer for truckin’ this back from California! Deep gold color with a thick off-white head that was thicker than the top of a meringue pie and lasted long after the beer was drunk from underneath it! Flowery piny hop aroma with lots of malt coming through too. The flavor is well balanced, bitter, but again lots of malt backing to balance it all out. Wonderfully long bitter finish. Very good IPA and one I’ll seek out again.
