BarrelHouse was established in 2013 by co-owners Jason Carvalho and Kevin Nickell, along with Chris Vaughn with a simple mission…bring together Good People, Good Times, and Great Beer. Since those early garage brewing days, BarrelHouse has quickly grown to be the largest family owned and operated craft brewery in San Luis Obispo County.

Draft. Blackish beerw ith a tan head. Chocolate aroma. Chocolate and spice flavor with light caramel. Medium bodied. Chocolate and spice linger with light caramel and light coffee.

Bottle at Castlegate. It pours cloudy bright golden - orange with a medium white head. The aroma is bright, zingy, apricot, peach, mango, papaya, musty, funky a mnd sherbet. The tatse is dry, tart, puckering, zingy, sherbert, apricot, papaya, kumquat, decent acidity and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Alright.

Bottle split at L6 Tasting, thanks to Tipple, 27/06/19. Mahogany brown with a decent off beige covering. Nose is roast malts, chocolate, charr, toffee, dusty hop kernels. Taste comprises toffee, cocoa powder, brown bread, light pine needle, dried fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with earthy hop bitterness. Passable CDA.

Can from Total Wine in San Jose, CA. (Stevens Creek) Pours bright, clear gold with a white head. Aroma is bready with a bit of non-citrus fruity hop. Med minus body. Flavor matches aroma. A bit grainy, but otherwise clean. Not very strong in flavor. Could be sessionable. Lake/pool beer.

Bottle from Total Wine in San Jose (Stevens Creek). Pours dark brown with a huge creamy light tan head. Aroma of pine and dark malt. Med body or so. Flavor is pine, rye spice and dark malt. A bit of chocolate in the malt. Not wholly dry. Bitter. Nice zing from the rye.

Bottle shared at columbus tasting 09/10/2019. Many Thanks! A clear nutty brown amber coloured pour with a halo of beige head. Aroma is semi sweet, woody cranberry, low brown sugars, autumnal, light must, funk. Flavour is composed of semi sweet and big sour, bruised grape, prickly sour, pithy. Grapey funk. Palate is sweet and puckering sour, highish carbonation. Decent complexity.
