2022 vintage bottle. Dark red to light brown pour, a bit opaque/murky. Light to medium sized head, the slightest off-white, shows good enough retention, little to no lacing. Reasonably intense aroma, but perhaps not much for the style: there's a (relatively restrained) base of sweet malts, though i can't pick something specific, soft chocolate notes, a bit of coffee, a hint of leather, a rather dry kind of feel which maybe suggests a good dose of bitterness. Taste notes follow the aroma: again, perhaps slightly sub-par intensity per style, but mostly not too defined/polished. A bit of sweet malty base, chocolate and light coffee, a hint of leather, a good dose of dry floral bitterness, with a pretty dry finish and aftertaste. Possibly closer to what you'd expect from an american strong ale rather than from an old ale. Medium to dense bodied with low to average carbonation; a relatively simple and easygoing mouthfeel per style, lacks the fullness i'd expect though. Felt overall quite mediocre to me.

Vågssbygd. Golden color with a white head. Aroma and flavor is pine, grapefruit, fruit, juniper, herbs, citrus.

Not a bad beer. But this version was a bit dull and anonymous.

0,33 dåse fra Bunnpris Markveien (Bergen), hjemme: lett uklar gylden med fint skum som varer lenge .Lett krydret anslag med rosmarin og timian i tillegg til de forventede citrus inntrykkene, hvor lime og appelsinskall dominerer. Ganske tørr avslutning.

Forholdsvis pålitelige notater fra Bergen Ølfestival, i godt selskap med Haakegutt, Bryne, BFF&Karen: nesten helt svart med fint beige kniplingskum som varer. Mørke malter, ristet brød, nytrukket kaffe og litt urter i en velsmakende maltkropp. Tørr avslutning med klar mersmak. En real stout uten noen dikkedarer.
