Draught @ The Cock Tavern, 315 Mare Street, London, Greater London, England E8 1EJ.Unclear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, coffee, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark chocolate, roasted, light salty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120805]

Bottle from Connolly’s Wines, Solihull. Poured a slightly murky reddish amber with a broken white head and broken lace. The aroma is rather fruity with a hint of malt, leading to a medium bitter flavour with some smooth mile fruitiness on the palate and mild bitterness in the aftertaste. It’s a rather tasty and refreshing summer beer, but it doesn’t have the dry hopped spicy bitterness of a modern IPA that i’ve grown to love.

Cask (handpump) @ NWAF 2012, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.Clear medium to dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, sharp, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120119]

Bottle from beermerchants.com. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a small off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, chocolate, some caramel and dark fruit in there. Quite a good porter but a little thin.

Bottle from Connolly’s Wines, Solihull. Poured a slightly cloudy bronze with a thin white head and low carbonation. The aroma is rich, strong and extremely hoppy. The flavour is strongly bitter, hoppy, spicy, dry and with pepper notes on the palate. It was a fine beer to taste, but the extremely hoppy taste might quickly become a little too much.
