Description
The Cromarty Brewing Co is a family run business consisting of Craig, Chap and Jenni Middleton. Craig, our fanatical founding brewer studied the science of brewing at Heriot Watt University and the art of beer making in the student accommodation and flat basements. After finishing the course he went on to do some work in various breweries to gain valuable experience. It was during this time that he decided he wanted to get his own beers to market.

In the spring of 2011 construction of the brewery started on the shed works and some awesome stainless steel was ordered from Bavarian Brewery Technologies. Hectic times and long hours later led to the first of the casks rolling out on the 19th December 2011.

Can from Hop Shop Aberdeen. Hazy golden body with a white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange and grass. Flavour of orange and white grape. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. It’s great to see a new release from this excellent and consistent brewery. I love the Cromarty classics but I wish they would have more one-off releases.

Can from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - cloudy yellow with a neat, foamy snow white head.
Nose - floral, lemon curd, gorse, custard and herbs.
Taste - lemon, pineapple and bitter herb.
Palate - close to medium bodied, creamy middle and bitter finsih.
Overall - I'm gonna say it looks like a NEIPA but drinks closer to West Coast.

Can from Marshalls Farm Shop, Aberdeenshire. It pours lightly hazy pale gold with a fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, sweetish, crunchy green fruits, melon, kiwi, gooseberry, grass and hay. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, kick of bitterness, green, prickly pine, peppery spice, grassy, pithy citrus, bitter grapefruit peel, white grape skin and slightly chalky. Finish is firmly dry. Average body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Decent, but not quite as expressive and bright as I would have expected from Cromarty. Not bad.
