Says it’s brewed with seawater…and it tastes like it. Big salty flavors, but no tart, no depth of flavor - it just finishes kind of dry. Really misses the mark.

Can. Dark brown. A tan head fizzes swiftly away. Chocolate brioche and roast aroma with some spices. So it tastes. Not overly sweet but rich for the ABV - I guess that's the idea of milk stout - with a little bitterness at the end. Simple but pretty good.

Can. Not far off clear amber with a 2cm near white head. Sticky breadcrust aroma with some grapefruit, citrus blossoms, spices. Sweet and not the cleanest with lots of empty caramel before floral and spicy notes build towards a moderately bitter finish. OK, a bit of a throwback.

Been a while since I've seen Nomad in Melbourne. Can. Brown with a fading cm of beige head. Shy aroma of citrus, spices, brown bread. Some stewed fruit, chocolate and pine upon a taste too. Bitterness comes in late. Not sure I get this one.

Can at home, koszi Tomi! Pours deep, semi opaque golden with white head. Nose is spicy, fruity, somewhat grassy. Taste is low bitterness, light fruity notes, a spicy, peppery overtone’s also there. Closes with somewhat bitter, slightly fruity finish, has light body and soft to average carbonation.

Heavy carbonation, less yeasty than most saisons. Not getting a ton of the pepper or coffee beans, just kind of a…vague general earthiness. Has a bit of ale bitterness at the end.

500ml bottle from somewhere in Melbourne. Not sure where and I won’t guess! 2017 vintage. Shared at Benny’s place, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky dark brown colour with little life. The aroma is medicinal. The flavour is moderate sour, with a smooth, floral medicinal, light dry roasty palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Yes it’s a 2017 beer and past the Best Before date, but it should have aged better than this. An imperial stout should not become sour when just 5 years over date. I strongly suspect this beer was infected when I bought it. Would make a great lambic tho!!

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is ripe fruit and smoked malt with herbal notes, apricot, and coriander. Flavour is mildly tart and salty with a moderate sweetness a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Bit of a daring brew with tart stone fruit, smoked malt, salt and myrtle in the mix, and it works. Most unique beer I've had in a while.
