Description
The Exchange is a new premium brewery and tasting room located in Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Old Town heritage district. Although the town is known as the heart of Ontario’s wine country, it is also the scene of a burgeoning craft-brewing industry. With brewing and agricultural roots that stretch back to the late 1700s, Niagara-on-the-Lake is the perfect home for The Exchange’s approach to brewing, which blends traditional and modern techniques and equipment.

We focus on making exceptional craft beers using only the highest quality ingredients, including local Niagara fruits. Our selection includes a range of American styles along with sour and funky Belgian-style beers and ales.

On tap at the source. Clear to slightly hazy brownish/redish pour, with a tiny off white head. Aroma is tart berries, and strong balsamic vinegar. Mouth feel is thin, and a bit oily, with a light carb. Finish is tart, bordering on sour, vinegar, and lactic notes abound. Light cherry, and maybe some raspberry. it's well made, just not a pleasurable style for me.

750ml bottle. Clear golden pour, with a large white head. Lovely peppery, wheaty aroma. Hints of lemon, and spice. Great mouth feel, and perfdt carb. Finish is crisp, and fresh, and very refreshing. Medium bitterness, nice resinous, and slightly citrusy hop bite. Nice saison,

Can. Hazy, yellow pour, with a large white head. Aroma is heavy on the malted wheat, with some light spice, and citrus notes, but the wheat is strong in this one. MOuth feel is full, carb is solid. Finish is subtly sweet, light fruit, with a strong cereal bill to end it. not very good.

Slightly hazed, bright golden colour with a creamy white cap, good stay and some thick creamy-frothy lacing. Funky, earthy aromas with mild sourness, lemon zest and some medicinal notes. The funkiness continues in the taste with a sour start, but does not go too far, and the lemon zest takes over mildly and light dryness in the end. The whole mouthfeel is fairly thin and haziness gets up as we pour, with particles through it. Not getting much vanilla from the oak barrels. A decent stronger Saison, but weird having the funky action, but it does work.

Lightly hazed golden colour with an orange hue. Big white head, frothy with good retention and foamy lacing left. Aromas of grapefruit, peel and juices with a touch of grassy hops. The taste shows again the citrus zest and juices. Not as clear for the grapefruit, but lemon and oranges. Juicy mouthfeel with some nice dryness in the end. An easy-drinking, citrusy IPA.

330ml bottle that pours a hazy bright golden-yellow colour with a creamy warm cap, decent stay and thick creamy lacing, tiny particles at the bottom of the glass. Funky aromas of sourness with earthiness, lemon and mild herbal notes. The flavours are milder, but still showing some lemony action. The sourness is almost gone, with some tart left on the tongue. A great-looking Saison, that is mild, but still effective.
