Started brewing in August 2008 on the site of the Sweet William brewery at the William IV pub in Leyton. Regular outlets include the William IV, the Old Coffee House (Soho) and the Crosse Keys (Covent Garden). In 2018 Brodies sold the King William IV in Leyton and contracted out beer production to Rhymney Brewery in South Wales.

Sample from 33 cl can. Slightly hazy golden colour with a fluffy white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, grape, floral hops, passion fruits. Taste is bitter. Light to medium body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with grasses and sweet tropical fruits. Nice one.

33 cl can. Pours cloudy yellow, huge white head. Aroma is peachy and crisp hoppy. Citrusy. Smooth fruity, nabgo and peachy. Medium dry and slight herbal hoppy. Bitter and dry hoppy finish.

Big creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly strange fruity, leafs, hops, dried fruits, lawn, old citrus peel, sap. Taste is very dry hoppy, bark, soil, old leafs, lawn, heather, harsh hops, paper. Longlasting bitterness, very dry dusty mouthfeel. Meh!

3-3-8-4-10 Small shortlasting head. Aroma is loaded with diacetyl, winegum, butterscotch, red berries, grain, sugar. Taste is dry acidic sour, sorrel, raw rhubarb, blackcurrant berry skin, grass, grain, hay. Medium bitterness, very dry acidic mouthfeel. Fair enough, if only the aroma had been as nice as the taste.

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is fresh citrusy, citrus peel, leafs, fresh hops, lawn, grapefruit, sap, dried fruits. Taste is slightly dry grassy, leafs, lawn, sweaty cheese, hay, weeds, shed, sap, paper, hops. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Fair enough, kind of strange.

Bottle at home, 25/07/17. Light haze on a washed through reddish pour with a well presented crimson cap. Nose is tarte berry fruit, pissoi, tarte grape, hedgerow, light spice, balsa wood, light puke. Taste comprises pissy red grape skins, apple core, grains, light funk, damp straw. Medium bodied, fine to spritzy carbonation, semi drying close with a modest puckering and noticeable acidic rasp. Solid ’Linner ... refreshing and to the point.

Bottle shared at Leightons place, 10/07/2017. Many thanks to Daniel for this one. A jet black coloured pour with a lasting tan head. Aroma is woody resinous hop, woody roast, pineapple. Smell like a black ipa. Flavour is composed of tangy pineapple, citrus, woody roast, toasted coconut, little lacto. Palate is tangy sour. Frorhy, moderate, Lingering tang, woody roast.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Danny. Pours black with a creamy, mocha head. The nose holds ashy roast, burnt wood, scorched earth, a little coffee. Light sweet flavour with an odd astringent note, a little dark malt tang. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Dry finish, more burnt wood, ash, earth, tangy leathery berries. So so.

330ml bottle at 6%. Pours bright gold with a large head. Aroma is sweet perfume citrus and farmhouse yeast. Taste has lemon to start. Farmhouse yeast. Lemon jelly finish. Prickly carbonation.
