Description
Salopian Brewery first brewed in Shrewsbury in 1995. Founded by Martin Barry on the site of the old Onions Dairy and like many breweries the kit we first brewed on was small and rudimentary at only two barrels. Brewing ceased in late 1997 due to financial problems. Our chairman Wilf Nelson joined the brewery in 1998 – Wilf coming on board gave the brewery much needed stability and vision to move to forward and brewing recommenced in January 1998.

Slowly, as cash flow permitted, we upgraded our brewing kit and replaced rusty dented vans with slightly less rusty dented vans. It was the onset of brewing a more eclectic range of cask ale, whilst embracing both traditional styles and those of our locality. 2014 saw the brewery make its final move – we hope! – to the village of Hadnall on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.

Cask (Gravity) at Chris Sandy’s party, Charlton-on-Otmoor 04-07-09 I like being asked to get the beers for this part as I’m always able to source something that I’ve never ahd and hopefully one which I’m going to like, we had this and Dask Star Best Bitter. Pours gold with a sprinkling of white bubbles. Hoppy aroma also quite floral. Taste is hoppy and maybe a touch sweeter than expected, but a nice beer that went rather too swiftly. bottle, pours dark brown, thin tan head. Roasted malt and maple syrup nose. Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Starts with a sweet dark malt and expresso bitterness that fades to a roasted malt lingering to a light bitter hop finish. Has some great flavor and is still relatively lite. I like it.

Cask, Gravity at Banbury Beer Festival, Oxon, 07-05-09 Pours light amber with a slight haze. Nicely citric with a good bite to it. Good hoppy buzz on the tongue. The aroma is light and floral, some sweet malts zingy and refreshing, another decent beer from this great little brewery. A6 A3 F7 P4 Ov14 3.4

Cask handpull at Society Rooms, JDW, Maidstone. After drinking some disappointing festival beers, this was superb. Gold, lasting beige head. Lots of grapefruit hop on aroma. Lots of hops everywhere. That is excellent uber hoppy beer for the UK. Resiny hops, lovely.
