Cask at the Windsor Castle. Deep gold with a nice fine head. Big (noble?) hoppy nose, light malt. Similar to a good Czech pils to me. Big hoppy flavor, grassy, with mint, light golden malt, some bread. Not sweet—just a bit warming. Prickly though light carbonation. Peppery, bitter finish. Very nice.

The first rating of this was an early rate for me
Appearance as before, not much lacing or head retention
Aroma - soft spicy hops, golden caramel malts, not much else
Taste of spicy bitter hops, golden caramel malts, grainy malts, some toasted barley, it’s getting boring for me now
Palate - thin to medium body, soft carb, tangy spicy palate. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - Not as good as it used to be - either my palates changed or it’s gone downhill...less flavour more water...big downrate 3.9 > 3.1


Cask @ Rose and Crown, Findhorn...... Appearance - Golden brown, clear, 1 finger white head......Aroma - grassy hop, yeast, caramel malt, floral and spicy notes, bit of cereal...Taste - bitter grassy hop, yeasty, caramel and bread malts, floral notes, bit peppery quite complex....Palate - Nice sharp bitterness in mouth with a good bitter tangy finish. Overall...a unique bitter in flavour, one of the very best bitters in the UK, and is widely available. I never get bored with this. 7/4/8/4/16 080711

Bottle from K-Supermarket Kamppi. Originally rated on 2.11.2010. Nice, quite well balanced bitter.

Copperbrown beer with a medium and blond head. Aroma is quite fresh, fruitness, some toffee, orangemarmelade and berries. Taste is purely biscuity and some toffeeish maltyness, some aromatic, nicely dry also in the beginning, medium wooden bitterness. Balanced aroma and taste, enjoyable and no musty. Quite light to drink, balanced carbonation, nice to drink. Succesfull bitter without annoying musty, quite aromatic and pleasant.

This time, the nose has oranges and malt. There’s less grapefruit on the taste this time and more malt and some ginger nut biscuits going on. The sum of the parts of this beer is excellent, so overall mark is higher than aroma or taste. Original rating 01/07/11 - 7/4/7/4/14 = 3.6 50cl bottle. Pours amber with gentle bubbles and a good head. The nose has delicate malt and some grapefruit as well as grapefruit pith. The taste has a massive grapefruit note on a gentle malt profile. The palate has a medium structure and texture and a lovely fresh finish, Overall, a tastey ale that could be sessioned.

From a 500ml bottle on 26/6/2011. Pours golden orange with a thick head. The aroma is fairly subdued - just a little bready malt and some cider like notes - which doesn’t give much of a hint of the flavours to come. In the mouth, there is heaps going on, and it’s quite impressive from something that’s only 4.1%. There’s a nice malt/hop balance, with some sweet caramel, fruits (particularly orange) and marmalade. Has a sharp, spicy, almost salty, hop finish which lingers long. The carbonation starts out as little high but seems to settle down in the glass. Very nice stuff.

Cask @ Town Hall Tavern, Leeds. Appearance - Black with creamy off white head. Aroma of roasted malt with some spicy hops. Taste of roast malt, sweet molasses, some burnt toast notes with a background of spicy hops. Tastes like a porter/stout version of Landlord. Very nice beer, easy drinking, smooth and creamy.

Bottle Light amber color, large fluffy white head, good lacing. Aroma of summer fruit and caramel. Taste is bitter throughout with a dry finish. Not bad.

Bottle at home. Clear amber pour, effervescent, with a foamy white head. Crisp malts on the nose, some sugar and fruits, bit of earthy hops. Nice flavor, not too sweet, with pleasant biscuits, straw and earthy bitterness. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Crisp finish, some nice hop bite, touches of toffee and more lightly baked bread. Very nice beer.
