Bottle from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Blackley. Golden with a bubbly head. Has a soft tasting texture, surprisingly so for its strength, but is not weak tasting. Hoppy with a low fruitiness, it's pleasant enough.

Bottle from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Blackley. Clear golden with a head. Extremely malty ale with its texture feeling a lot more healthy than its strength might suggest. Label says it is bottled in France.

Bottle from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Blackley. Clear golden with an initial bubbly head and a light carbonation. Fairly crisp and looking good, it has a some pilsner aroma but falls down in taste, however it's smooth and clean tasting so feels good in the palate.

Bottle at home picked up from Watford Sainsbury's. An opaque dark brown black coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is sweet, vanilla, cakey malts, prunes, waxy candle, kamp coffee. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rounded, vanilla, coffee extract, prune jam, cocoa, Palate is semi sweet, rouned, creamy, moderate cartbonation. Bit too much adjunct,

Bottle picked from Sainsbury's. A dull brown coloured pour with a fading greyish beige head. Aroma is nutty chestnut, twiggy, light soap, bark, dried cocoa, dried fruit, Flavour is composed of semi sweet malts, cola cubes, light spices, rye bread, twiggy malts, . Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, maybe a little thin. meh.

Bottle picked up from Sainsburys, Streatham (14/12/2021) - dark brown with a off white head. Toasted and sweet malty with some notes of caramel and toffee, a slew of winter spices residing in there, medium to light bodied, spiced sweet malty finish. Very sweet malty with notes of sweet chocolate, some notes of plum and dried fruit, some notes of spice, seems overly sweet for me. 500ml bottle bought at a Sainsbury store in Grantham and shared with Finn on a train towards Stevenage. Deep dark brown body, stable beige head, lacing rings down the glass. Roasted nose, biscuit and chocolate. Well balanced taste of biscuit, dark fruits, nuts, and chocolate malts. Roasted malt-fruity bitterness to the ending. Medium bodied. Pleasing. (13.11.2021).

500ml bottle: BB 30th September 2022. Poured into an old Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 3rd December 2021. It was a birthday gift from my sons girlfriend, Steph. Black body, beige/lightly tanned head. Dark chocolate and plums in the nose and taste, not as sweet as the label blurb suggests though. Christmassy, not too sure, Plumy yes.
