Giovanni Campari founded Birrificio del Ducato together with two other partners. Giovanni is still the brewmaster of the brewery, which officially began the production of craft beer on March 27th 2007 in Roncole Verdi, Busseto (PR). The historic production site was transformed into Sour Brewery in 2015, when we transferred the main brewery to the new headquarters in Soragna (PR). Here we produce the main beer lines, through a fully automated system, which includes advanced PLC controls and centrifugal separator. The brewery currently has a 60-hl 5-vessel brewhouse and a total cellar capacity of 1200 hl.

At the end of 2016 Duvel Moortgat acquired 35% of the shares of the brewery. In 2018 Duvel Moortgat acquired 70% of the brewery’s shares, investing its resources in a new laboratory and in a new bottling line.

Draught at Owl Farm: pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is yeasty, grapey, funky. Really nice smell. Taste is sour, funky, lemony sour finish, grapey. Quite good.

Pours hazy pink, some white bubbles on the top. Lots of vinegar and balsamico in the nose, some currants, funky and a bit musty. Light peat. Tastes tart, lots of balsamico, finishing with a burnt caramel note. Acidic. Good one from Italy.

Bottle into a taster showing deep gold with sparse white foam. The nose shows intense notes of peat and light brett. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Strong peat background, moderately tart, with moderately intense notes of soil and earthy moss.

Reddish cola-coloured beer, head soon reduced to a small beige rim. Vinous nose, outspoken aceto balsamico, also brown sugar solution, bit of curry powder. Lactic acid, melanoidins, bit vinous notes, again balsamic vinegar. Very good balance, even if tipped towards the sour. Dried dark fruit; Very slick to oily, at least medium bodied, soft carbonation, long lasting acidity. Superb! And I just love the name.

Little cloudy blond beer, big creamy irregular white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: some citrus, bit herbal, little yeasty, slightly fruity. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: malty start, bit sweet, fruity touch. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, bit herbal, malty, grains.

750mml. bottle, taster. Sampled on the 16/03/2019 at Barcelona Beer Festival 2019, (L´Hospitalet, Spain). Misty golden colour with a low foamy white head. Vinous appearance. Aroma is barnyard, tannins, grapes, funk and brett. Taste is also barnyard and vinous with a presence of brett. Finish is medium acidic. Low body and carbonation. Next one please!

Semmi hab, fekete szín. Csokis, kakaós, aszalt gyümölcsös illat. Aszalt gyümölcsös, csokis, kakaós ízvilág, pici dohányos és kávés aromákkal. Közepesen testes, alig szénsavas, csak egy picit keserű. Nagyon finom, jó arányokkal rendelkező sör.
