(draught) Totally clear amber-fox. Thick yellowish head, lacey. Nose of ambrée malts, some sugar and hops, CO2 is even obvious in the nose. A bit of burned rubber (sulphur). Aroma as freshly gristed malt. Taste, IMO, the ideal balance between sweet and bitter from noble hops. CO2 gives an ever so slight sourish hint. Biscuit (cookies) flavour. Very fresh De Koninck has a flavour as from freshly mown grass. Light-bodied. Well saturated, not fizzy. Refreshing. In the aftertaste, all tastes struggle and the hopbitterness lasts. NEVER confound a draught ‘bolleke’ with the bottled product. Filtered, but not pasteurised, this is a mega-difference. NEVER visit Antwerpen without drinking one. Not all pubs serve it equally well, though. To an Antwerpener, this is the standard (=/ the best beer!) by which all other beers are measured.

As i liked the original De Koninck, this one is also very nice. Amber colored, small head. Amber malty aroma, like De Koninck. Also tastes kind of the same, with a small note of alcohol. A bit stronger De Koninck, for the dark months of the year...

Copper coloured. Not much head. Sweet and somewhat yeasty aroma. Quite sweet and a bit fruity flavour with warming alcohol. Drinkable but I've had better Belgians.

Frothy pilsner looking beer with a fresh fruity aroma and a hint of lemon zest.The flavour is generally lightly hopped. Overall a very smooth drink.

After a long time, the darker, stronger version of the ubiquitous Antwerpen'' ale is finally marketed officialy (=Winter King, also wordplay on Dutch for wren). Fresh horsechestnut colour, earthy smell with molasses or dark sugar. taste both bitterness from hops as from dark malts. Underlying sweetness. Not very thick mouthfeel, long bittereffect, becoming more outspoken hoppy.

A beer with a nice amber color but almost no head. It has a nice but not recognicable aroma, it reminds me a little of Brooklyn Lager. It has a nice rounded sweet flavor of good malt blend - I'll guess it contains some Munchner malt. It ends of on a very slightly bitter note - of a great tasting hop. An OK beer.

On tap at the White Horse, Parson's Green...dark amber; sweet, very malty; candyish notes. Maybe it was just the change of pace from all those English beers, but I liked it.
