Description
Looking for the real taste of Antwerp? Since 1833, there has been just one address: our Antwerp City Brewery. Because when people get together in Antwerp, they do so more often than not with a Bolleke Koninck in their hand. And that’s how De Koninck has become synonymous with Antwerp –and vice-versa. Every day, we work hard to uphold this proud tradition while also experimenting on ways to perfect and reinvent the taste of Antwerp.

33cl bottle. Dark amber colour with a large, frothy, nice lacing and good lasting light tan head. Aroma is moderate malty, slightly hoppy, mild yeasty with fruits hints. Flavour is sweet with certain fruity notes, malty, slightly bready. The final is slightly sweet and dry. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high.

Originally rated August 2005. Had this one on tap at the Pub Italia on Preston in Ottawa, Ontario. Poured an amber-red colour with a short lived head and some lace. A slight coat of it patched up the top. Hop was found in the nose with roasted malt and floral notes. Kind of pilsner-like at first, in the taste. Mild tasting with a bitter finish. Notes of orange and other fruits. The mouthfeel was dry. A beautiful and refreshing belgian well-balanced swill (if you want to call it that).

50cl flip-top clay bottle @ RBBWG 2012 Antwerpen, courtesy of Tinus.

Slightly hazy, golden beer, white head. Quite herbal aroma, light and fruity, apples, bit of candy (zuurtjes). Flavour light bitter, sweet malts, slight honey, spicy notes. Finish spicy, slight sweetness, light bitterness in the end.

75cl bottle, BB 17-11-2013.

Bottle from Asao. Fragrant fruit aroma, peaches and apples, apricots. Nice. Cloudy gold with a low, fine head. Fruity, estery, sweet flavor, very malty, bready, slight tang. Nice, but rather undistinguished. Full bosy, rich and bubbly.
