On tap at Muddy Pig. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma is full of roasted malts with bitter dark grains and smoke as well as a hint of light pine. Flavor has lots of bitter dark grain and roasted malts with a growing smoke and light pine plus a slightly dry finish.

On tap at Republic. Pours a near clear earthy amber with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a smoked near notes with a bit of sweet grain and a hint of barrel underlying. Flavor has a combination of sweet grains and smoke notes with a rye barrel backbone.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a earthy light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of earthy dark grains with a bit of dark bread and a pretty strong smoke note. Flavor combines dark grains and smoke well with a bit of bread and roasted malt backing.
