ABR 2014. Good rauch beer, with lots of smoke in the flavor and aroma. Not complex; it doesn’t need to be. This is what I expect from a smoked beer.

Draft at ABR 2014. Very mild smoke. I smell whisky and malt flavor, with surprisingly a grape aftertaste. I think the non-aged version has more smoke.

Summer Beer Dabbler 2014. Lots of oak. Thick and heavy palate. Low carbonation, and a very heavy roast with tons of malt.

Summer Beer Dabbler 2014. Light smoke in the aroma and the flavor; I would love to have more of it. Dry, earthy malt flavor with very mild hops.

Tap at Acadia. Smooth and thick palate. Bourbon aroma and some in the flavor with lingering bourbon finish. Heavy roast, almost like a porter. Good.

Sampled at All Pints North, 2014. Even in my smaller serving, this is a black, thick, heavy beer Mine had a tall head of dark brown foam. Alcohol and roasted malt. Some very light bourbon, which compliments rather than overwhelms the other flavors. Imperial stout maybe? Great beer.

Sampled at All Pints North, 2014. Aroma has moderate smoke and lots of hops in there too. I actually perceived some smoked fish and citrus. As much as I love smoked beers this one missed the mark for me. But it is still a Hammerheart beer, and that means the quality is still there.

Draught at the brewery. Very dark, nearly black. Light smoke in the aroma. Well roasted malt and some sweetness. I especially like the smoke in this beer, and wish there were more of it.

Tap at Hammerheart. Even sweeter than the aquavit barrel, and no spice. I liked the aquavit better but this barrel worked well also.

Tap at Hammerheart. I found some complexity in this beer. Dark red/brown color, hard to tell in the dim lighting. Spicy and herbal qualities, caraway, vegetables, and some sugar.
