Description
At present there are five of us working at the brewery – Luke and Stuart who assist with deliveries and the cleaning and filling of casks. In the office, there’s Julia AKA Fuzzy, who doubles as Droxford’s famous lollipop lady. She keeps all the paperwork in good order which is a good thing because this was a weakness of ours. The Bowman family is of course completed by Ray and myself.
Our beers have evolved over the years into three really popular regular brews and each month we have a 4.5% special on too.

Bottle from my parents. Opaque bronze. Foamy white head. Aroma has some berry sourness over caramel and nuts. Flavourwise it has that sour berry streak with a soda water element. Develops some woodiness. Underlying veg and water. Light-medium bodied. Thin to slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Muted bitter. Not great.

2/10/2025. Cask at the Cricketers, Ipswich. Not a festival beer, they had none! Pours clear amber gold, small head, a brimming third. Aroma is hoppy, citrusy, grassy, malt, very slightly spiced edge. Started a bit sweet but some bitterness came through. A mellow golden. It’s fine.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] A pale amber pour with a loose white head; hedgerow hop aroma; sweet chewy malt body with an immediate hit of leafy hops; then a very dry finish with lingering peppery hops. A crisp and hoppy bitter.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#95. Easy session half, perfect for killing 15 minutes waiting for a train. Golden, slightly watery, some sugars and a hint of fruit.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beet#75. Second beer of the local pub beer festival taking place. Advertised as a brown, but a little too hoppy for me for that. Excellent traditional brew though with very tasty towards that style gritty sugars and malts.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wigan. Pours golden amber with a small foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. There’s floral hops, pine and a trace of citrus in the aroma. In the mouth it is initially sweet with underlying bitterness, but that bitterness increases and comes to dominate. Flavour has floral hops, and hints of citrus with traces of spice and ginger coming through later leading to a sticky and fairly dry finish. This is decent enough until the yucky finish.
