Description
The Budelse Brouwerij (Budels Brewery) is a family business that still values the traditions that have guided the brewery for centuries now. It's been at the very heart of the village of Budel in Brabant since 1870. Founded 150 years ago by Gerardus Arts as Brouwerij de Hoop (the Hope Brewery). Today, the fourth generation of the Arts family is at the helm and we are just as committed to the brewing as our ancestors.

30cl bottle, found in Wuppertal on the Christmas-Market. Best before 12.2015. Malzig-milder Antrunk.
Sehr tolle Kombination. Nicht penetrant-süß, schön stimmig, toll! This is how the combination of beer and honey has to be! Not too sweet, nice malty, great!

Malzig-trockener Antrunk. Toll! 14/13/15/14

Arends Nest, Amsterdam. Keg. Bright clear deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and crisp. Light sweet malts, touch of caramel. Whisper of something fruity. Light finish. Ephemeral but inoffensive.

Bottle. Hazy straw with bits of lemon floating around and nice white head. Actually looks like a radler. Bit grassy and malty with lemon and lots of bitter lemon peel and soap. Light and fresh. Good radler but the weird soapy notes are too much.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 20 Aug 2014) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Creamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of caramel, dark rye bread, brown sugar and dried fruit. Malty, roasted taste with caramel, dark bread, brown sugar, raisins, prunes and a balanced spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Keg at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 25/09/14. Clear chestnut brown with a moderate off white/light beige covering that dissipates then retains. Nose is bitter dark fruit, earthy notes, metallic rinse, nutty. Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, brown bread, malt loaf, dates. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drting close. So so affair, the blandometer is well up the gear stick!

Tap @ Becoloth, small sample, served in a kleintje pils glass. Clear dark brown color, frothy brown head, almost cola. Aroma is spicy, bit roast, anise, some dark bread. Bit sweet and spicy in taste. This is supposed to be a bottom-fermented clean dark lager, but instead they add spices and loads of sweetness to give the impression of a belgian double. Dont do that.

Draught @ Bar Becoloth, Boxtel. Dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through, medium sized dense beige head that lasts for quite a while and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is exactly what you would expect from a schwarzbier: very malty, lightly earthy. Taste malts, earthy, lightly sweet, a hint of caramel, raisins and liquorice. Decent body and carbonation.
