Bottle thanks to Weyjay. Pours a dark brown with small beige head thats diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong roast, licorice, cocoa. Slick body, licorice, roasted malt, dark chocolate, bitter finish, good.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a glass. Clear copper with small white had. Aroma is Carmel, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel and a little booze.

Can from Binny’s Oak Brook. Darkish color for a wheat beer. But a light wheat beer smell, go fig. Taste is just a bit more hearty than, say, a 312. the additional orange is a welcome supporting player, not there to overwhelm the entire proceeding. A crafty, sociable beer with just a little something extra.

Chalky yellow with no real head. Aroma is wet yeasts with orange zest coriander. Taste is fresh bitter and sour juicy stuff with a yeasty bite later. Pretty fresh low carbonation. Easy drinkable. Ok.

Pour is a hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma is a real nice fruity hop, lots of tangerine and orange. Flavor is another nice blast of the down under fruity hops. Almost no bitterness after the swallow just a nice fruit that turns into a bit of green onion. This was really nice. Plenty of tropical fruit flavors and no bitterness.

2015 notes. So long since I’ve "visited" these guys, and so far from when they started with a ready-made 3 barrel brew works that boasted of never repitching yeast. Solid black, with a thin layer of brown foam, like a pourover coffee. After a pretzel with strong stone-ground mustard, my nose is not going to pick up subtleties: just some vague but not too bitter coffee roast malt. Taste delivers a truly big and complex imperial stout taste, with light mocha coffee. Alcohol just builds in the back of my throat. Yet it’s very easy drinking thanks to its malty sweetness and low bitterness.

Draft at Famous Dave’s, Bolingbrook. Gotta say I agree with all the accolades. This is the most solid exemplar of its style that I can think of. A nice bouquet of piney and tangy hops that continues in the palate as well. Malt is sturdy, lightly sweet, and makes the hop bitterness all the more palatable. Some may want their uvulas scorched by excessive hoppiness, but this is the best use of Amarillos I can remember. Fully balanced and enjoyable.

Pour is a milky looking yellow with a small white head. Aroma is a little bit of hefe yeast and maybe some coriander. Flavor is way more wheat malt than anything else. There is a slight tang which is guess is the blood orange but the flavor brings nothing else to the forefront. There is a bit of orange peel left on the tongue after the swallow but not enough to rescue this one. Pretty light all around.
