Description
The Roue Libre Brewery is the fruit of the passion of a solid team of happy Strasbourg brewers. After having participated for many years in the development of famous Alsatian micro-breweries, and having learned so much there, David and Stéphane get closer and decide to found together a rather special micro-brewery: a Brewpub! This small English-speaking name designates a warm place in which the activities of artisanal micro-breweries and beer bistros blend perfectly. Beer is our passion, brewing our motivation. Brewed and served on draft in a unique place where the brewing and cycling arts come together in every corner.

Tap at the brewpub. Clear deep amber. Dry roasted malts, brown sugar, figs, earthy, dead leaves, woody. Medium sweet, dry bitter finish. A bit dry for a dubbel maybe. Quite OK overall.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy light amber. Soft roasted malts, caramel, peach, cocoa. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. It’s more complex than it sounds from what I wrote. Nice beer.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy golden. Lots of wheat, apricot, guava, bergamot, bitter herbs, sour citrus juice, oats. Almost medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Creamy juicy body. Not great but interesting and different.

Tap at the brewpub. Bit hazy golden. Crisp malts, grassy hops, light creamy, mineral, a bit dry, grain husks. Under medium sweet and bitter, very light sour. Medium bodied. Not really a classis Kölsch but quite OK.

Tap at the brewery. Pale pink. Wheat, Roosvicee, raspberry jam, strawberries, light herbal. Medium sweet. The fruit is again not overpowering and there’s still a lot of beer to be tasted, this brewery does adjuncts well, though still this is a bit too much like cooked fruits for me.

Tap at the brewery. Bit hazy golden. Sweet wheat, light apple, creamy yeast, cloves, chalk, fresh willow twigs? Medium sweet, light bitter. OK, but not as good as the classics.
