Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Shmupi. Black. Aroma of roast, cocoa, a bit of dark fruits, coffee, caramel, a bit of licorice. Bittersweetish flavor with roast, bitter cocoa, dark fruits, caramel, some coffee, a bit of licorice, very bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

33cl bottle at gompachi. Light Amber colorvshort but persistent white head. Aroma is hoppy with roasted malts and some caramel. intense bitter taste, Medium body thick texture lively carbonation, dry finish. Decent dry ipa.

Tap at Oedo beer festival. Huge spicy ginger in the nose with some caramel and citrus. Again tons of ginger in the flavor, and sweet. No thanks.

Tap at Komachi. Nose of carmel, some spice, some pine, oranges. Orange-amber color, hazy, with lace. Getting coffee notes in the flavor, strangely enough, lemon, biscuits. Creamy and nice enough but the coffee flavor is weird.

Shared 33cl bottle on 15th Aug 2016: half each for me and a mate. Black to deep, darkest brown, thin tanned topping. Chocolate and malty front to both the nose and taste: fairly sweet throughout and a very pleasant Porter all round.

15th Aug 2016: shared 33cl bottle with my mate who’s wife brought this back from Japan after a cycling tour. Name gives away the colour, the head a beige affair. Caramel maltiness ruled both the aroma and taste, my sweet tooth liking it immediately: some hop action calmed the sweetness down nicely.

15th Aug 2016: shared 33cl bottle with the bloke who’s wife brought this (along with 4 other Japanese beers) home from a cycling holiday in Japan. As the name might suggest, this is a golden coloured beer, the head an off-white affair. Light malty nose leaning towards a sweetish caramel aroma. Taste also malts first backed up with a slight citrusy hop feel. OK and a good start to the mini-Japanese tasting session.
