Dirk the Norseman was closed for private party for a bit so stopped next door tobwait it out. Grabbed this brew hoping for gose no dice. Pours light amber gold. Nose is floral and biscuits. Tastes malty, some bread, lemon, where is the sea salt???. Pretty crisp mild bitter finish.

Location: Sampled at Living Social Beerfest, 12/6/13
Aroma: The nose is heavy malty and a little off, just not an enjoyable aroma
Appearance: This one pours a dark reddish color with a tan colored head and okay lacework
Flavor: The taste is much the same, malty and not great, nuts, spice, brown sugar, and soap
Palate: The body is medium, it has average carbonation, and a slightly unpleasant finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty mediocre to bad offering. I just didn't find much here to enjoy. Honestly, I don't know if they were pouring from a bad keg, but. It just tasted and smelled off.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of hops and fruit with subtle malty notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of citrus. An OK bitter finish. Acceptable.

Drought. Amber-orange color, white foamy large head, pumpkin aroma, sweetish taste with pumpkin flavor, low carbonation, abrupt finish with bitterness at the end. Not bad for a seasonal but a bit sweet for my taste. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pumpkin Barrel Ale on 28 Sep 2013 at 11:12 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Bottle. Slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has somee bready malt, some vegetal notes and some floral and slightly citric hops. Flavor has light malty sweetness at first, a bit grainy, and continues with some moderately bitter floral hops and a light salty note. Light-medium-bodied. OK.

The Sampler, Brooklyn bottle: Pours golden with white head. Aroma is light lemon and bread. Ain’t too much salt in there. Taste is pretty standard blonde ale. Forgettable, but easy to drink and session.

Rich amber and copper coloured body witha rich, thick, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pumpkin, squash, cinnamon, nutmeg, alcohol and a bit of anise - very nice and spicey. Medium-bodied; Strong spice up front with some coriander seed and anise noticeable, but of course the squash, nutmeg and cinnamon are all present. Aftertaste shows a nice maltiness with some earthy notes, a bit of light hops and the good spice flavour that shows off just a touch. Overall, a very nice pumpkin-based beer with some great flavours a good complexity throughout. Definitely nice to try! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle from Forager’s City Market in Brooklyn, New York, New York later in the day in my hotel room here in New York.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is pine, floral notes, and caramel. Flavor is about the same, medium sweet, malty, light bitter. Medium body, a bit creamy. Meh

Clearish red coloured body with a copper glow and a one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pale malt, some hop pellets, a bit of alcohol and a hint of hay. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic and slightly perfumey hop notes at first with a good malt backbone, some lighter grass and hay notes and a hint of caramel and toffee at the end. Aftertaste shows some more complexity than I expected, but some decent hops and a good malt backbone - not bad at all, not sublime, but a good beer to try. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 29-January-2013.

Bottle @ JFK, NYC. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are crisp clean malt and hops. A little on boring side, but very easy drinkable.
