Description
Established 1666 - Closed 1989 - Re-established 2010 - Re-named 2022
One of the greatest names in British brewing, Truman's has been a part of London life for almost 350 years. Closed in 1989 during dark days for the brewing industry, we have been working hard to bring Truman's back to its former glory. We craft an eclectic range of great beer in cask, keg and can at our new brewery in Hackney Wick. Everything we brew, we do with with skill, belief and passion.
The brewery in Hackney Wick was closed in June 2022 but the award-winning recipes are now brewed under contract for the three venues and online sales.
From Thursday 15 September, Truman’s Beer will be known as Big Penny, following the acquisition of the trademark by the management team at the Old Truman Brewery announced earlier this year.

Keg at the ledger building Jdw. A clear golden orange coloured pour with creamy white head. Aroma is semi sweet nutty toffee malts, faint citrus, dishcloth, pine needle. Palate is a bit weird creamy, sweet moderate carbonation. Flavour is composed of sweet malts, toffee and apple, sweet red berries, strawberry. A pretty plain ipa.

Cask at Grafton Arms, Westminster. This bitter is different from the others I have tried, dark amber. Head is not as thick and does not leave the same lacing. Malt aroma and a flavor with a significat roasted malt flavor, and much more of thst than the other bitters ai have tried in the UK in 2016. Good, but not great palate.
