Twisted Barrel Ale
Microbrewery
in Coventry,
West Midlands,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Twisted Barrel Brewery Tap House
Established in 2014
After months of hard work developing a small selection of beers that would appeal to Coventry's patrons thirsting for our unique mix of modern and classical styles and methods we launched our beers at Coventry's number 1 bottle bar, Inspire, and it was a huge success. Originally brewing on a 60 litre kit, we described ourselves as 'the UK's first Pico-brewery'.
20th June 2015 and we held another launch. This time in our brand new Brewery and Tap House at FarGo Village. With a new 1000 litre brewing kit and an entirely new brand design from Stewart Easton, we've finally become the brewery we always set out to be. Almost 2 years later we transferred our bar and brewing kit into a space about 5 times larger than before, we're still serving the best beer at FarGo Village.

Bottle on the IOW Jolly Day outward train tasting, thanks to Paulo, 24/08/14. Murky amber with a good sized off white covering. Nose is big medicinals, TCP, spice, herbal tang, sprucey wood, spearmint gum. Taste comprises dental mouth wash, oaky notes, faint citrics, TCP, Dentene gum. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Hmmmm ... interesting enough offering, didn’t really get much of what the description says mind and can’t say I’m desperate to rush back but OK (ish)!

Bottle - Very medicinal, like skin ointment and vapor rub. Dirty gold with a good beige head. Actually tastes worse than it smells. Medicinal, herbal and long in the finish.

Bottle (5.7%) shared on the train during the IoW Jolly. It pours murky brown-amber with a thick, dirty white head. The nose is spearmint polos, mouth-wash, Vic’s vaporub, resin and chamomile lotion. The taste is bitter, toasty, spice, mint, floral, mouth-wash and pine with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very odd mint mouth-wash about it. Not undrinkable for me, just rather weird.

Bottle shared at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. Hazy yellow color, small off-white to beige head. Aroma is hugely herbal and spicy. Tastes the same. Absolutely horrible, way way way too much herbs and spices, vegetables and plant like. Horrible.

Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 London Grand Tasting - Moncada Brewery. Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. The nose brings to mind pickle juice - not an entirely bad thing, since I like pickle juice. Light sweet flavor, somewhat drying, with soft melon notes and mellow grassy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Abstractly fruity on the finish. Novel. Not bad.

Bottle at RBESG, 2014’s Grand Tasting at the Moncada Brewery. Hazy gold pour with a white head. Ginger, coriander and spicy fruit in the nose. Moss, grassy-malt, stewed veg and mint in the flavour. Not a fan of cucumber-esque.flavours in beers, unfortunately that’s the predominant flavour for me.
