Can from Wine Reserve, Cobham. Aroma is led by the vanilla and lactose providing a sweet - if sour - milk chocolate effect. Dark and glossy cola brown. Foamy light beige head. The initial flavour has a sour booziness to it, with a medium-heavy bitter core. Underlying sweetness (vanilla tinged creamy chocolate) then appears but its bitter and boozy throughout. Medium bodied. Creamy. Slick. Average prickly carbonation. After the boozy start it smooths out and malty chocolate gains strength. A good first Impy Impy Stout for Big Smoke.

Cask into growler at Flintgate. Are is apple juice with a boozy edge. Light amber. No head. Initial sour, almost vinegary, hit. Then smooths out with some juicy sweetness, albeit there's a bitter apple peel and tannin streak throughout. Light bodied. Thin but slick. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Enjoyable.

Keg to growler at Flintgate, Weybridge. A couple of months ago I asked where this was brewed and was told a cidery that seemingly didn't exist. Assumed the guy got the name wrong so asked again today and was told, At our brewery in Esher. Right. Aroma has apple peel and juicy sweetness. Light gold. Bubbly translucent white head. First impression is that it's pretty sweet before underlying sournesss comes through. My wife's comment: It doesn't really taste of anything. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Dry slightly astringent finish. Slips down but doesn't leave much of an impression.
