Cask at CBC, London. Pours dark brown with a creamy, beige head. Dark roast nose with big char, burnt wood, ash and cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with dark malts, tons of heavy, fully brewed coffee, some dark fruits, dirt, tar, ash. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Earthy, burnt cocoa finish, some minerals, tobacco, dry burnt grass and dark, roasty cocoa. Nice.

Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon 19.04.12 consumed at home Sunday 22.04.12 Pours black with large tan head, looks bloody great. Some coffee on nose. Soft in mouth with a good up front roastiness that really leaves a coating across the tongue, coffee and bitter, bitter chocolate, very nice stout. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Cask at CP&K Brighton. It pours very dark brown, with a small off-white head. The nose is toast, roasted malt, burnt tire and a hint of caramel. The taste is caramel, cola, toffee, roasted malt, charcoal, liquorice and coffee, with a dry, bitter-sweet finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A good, flavoursome cask porter.

Cask, handpump at Mr Foley’s, Leeds 18.03.12 in company of dad & Barry Pours mid gold with a slight haze and a white filmy head. Some hops show but they are a little dusty, there is a gentle sweetness, bit of lemon and with a slight zing but my overall impression was one of being slightly underwhelmed. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

This is fruity, roasty and with a little pluminess, a smooth beer but very good. Finishes with a lasting bitterness. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7
