Description
The Rothaus Brewery was founded 1791 through the Benedictine monastery St. Blasien in the “Zum Rothen Haus” inn (“To the Red House” in English). Following the secularizations of 1806, the Rothaus Brewery fell out of the hands of the monks and became property of the Grand Duchy of Baden and was renamed the “Großherzogliche Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus” (Grand Ducal State Brewery Rothaus of Baden). The November Revolution of 1918, which led to the abolition of the monarchy in Baden, caused the company to shorten their name to Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus (State-owned brewery of Baden), as from then on the brewery was owned by the federal state of Baden.

Since 1922, the company has had the legal form of a stock corporation, the shares of which are currently held entirely by the associated company of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The continuously large demand for Rothaus beer has in the past made large investments necessary. This allowed the Rothaus Brewery to grow into one of the most modern facilities in Germany.

Comes together well for style. A good dose of saaz or some German hops. Light snappy bitter finish. Some grass. Golden pour. Tap at Churchkey.

Clara pajiza. Ligero aroma a malta. Golpea el paladar con su postgusto final muy amargo y algo herbal. Durante el trago también destaca el amargor. Desbalanceada hacia el lúpulo, pero bebible. Normaliza

Bottle. Clear golden color with head that goes down quickly. Aroma is grassy, grainy, citrusy. Taste is a bit malty and sweet, more earthy, slightly bitter finish. Carbonation is not too high. A classic Pils.

330ml bottle from Beermerchants.com, mistakenly sent instead of the Rothaus Eis Zapfle. Have had this countless during my many visits to Germany. Pours clear gold with frothy white head. Crisp refreshing pils. That’s it.

Bottle. Clear very light straw with short lasting bright white head. Lemonade, mint, light herbs, light sweet malts and biscuits. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Pretty good for a radler, it’s well balanced, not too sweet or chemical and has a good beer backbone.

Bottle. Clear light golden with small white head that doesn’t last long. Toffee, marzipan, caramel, dried stone fruits, dried apple, light tropical fruits and spices. Light to medium sweet with soft herbal bitter finish. Medium bodied with prickly carbonation. Decent stuff.

Shared bottle. Clear straw with nice white head. Light grains, very herbal, some grass, grapefruit peel, pine cones, dried apricots. Light sweet and medium bitter. Light bodied. Quite nice hoppy pils, not my favorite kind of hops but it makes an interesting Pilsner.

Sweet malt and shitty hay smell. Clear yellow, medium head. Sweet malt, but not as sweet as the aroma implied. Grass finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Not bad.
