Cask@GBBF2010. Hazy orange colour, not much head. Aroma is pleasantly balanced hops, very fruity and wooden, along with some sweet maltyness. Flavour is fruity and floral hops along with some bready malts and caramel malts, biscuits as well as some slight grass in the finish. Pleasant and actually for once a refreshing IIPA.

GBBF. Clear amber beer - no real head. Light dry palate. Bitter peach and tea flavoured malt. Finishes dry. Not hating it but can’t get excited either. 3.0

Black Country Beano. Outbound train tasting! Light haze on this amber beer, big pale cream coloured head. Softish airy palate, dry. Somewhat spicy hops with lesser pine and marmalade. Lingering bitter aftertaste.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-brown color with a huge foamy beige head that lingered and produced great lacing. The aroma was malty, sweetish and had touches of molasses and fruity hops. The flavor was malty, toasty and nutty with notes of vanilla, cream, cherries and caramel. The finish was long, sweetish, malty and fruity. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland this beer poured a dark brown color with a medium sized tan head that faded and produced some lacing. the aroma was bourbon, brown sugar, caramel, nut and vanilla. The flavor was malty and sweet with notes of nut, caramel, brown sugar and vanilla. The finish was long and malty with vanilla and bourbon lingering. Fairly full bodied. Nice.

Bomber poured into shaker. Bought at Fred Meyer (they have a bitchin beer selection, actually--huge bomber selection). Spicy, piney, floral, cinnamon (??) aromas. Could be more assertive. Pours a hazy orange hue with a nice looking rocky head that dissipates fairly quick, leaving a constant layer of foam on the surface and some nice decorative lace. Taste is a little sweet at first and finishes a little bitter (pretty low on the bitterness end for this style it seems) and alcoholic. Hoppy, but nicely balanced out with the malt. I was hoping for a hop explosion, actually, something like Oskar Blues’ Gubna. Maybe this is past its peak. Carbonation is high, mouthfeel is oily, body is medium. A pretty good beer; I wish I would have bought it as soon as it was released, however, to truly experience that fresh hop taste at its absolute fullest peak.

I had this on tap at the Beer Bistro in Chicago, IL. I haven’t seen it around, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I’ve had better IIPA’s, but this one isn’t bad by any means. For this being only 7.5% it tasted much more potent than it actually is. Definite citrus notes in the nose, had kind of a woodsy flavor and mouthfeel. Definitely not a beer you want to pound or anything, took me about 15 min to finish this one.

Cask gravity at GBBF, Trade Day 03-08-10 Hurrah things are getting better on the American beer front from the BSF bar, this is much better. Pours amber with good clarity. Nice hoppy sting to this but good smooth sweetness following through. This is full of fresh green, zingy hops. Its a nice beer with a good thrusting bitterness. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
