Description
BridgePort produces a variety of international style ales, including IPA. BridgePort’s ales are naturally conditioned in the bottle, keg, or cask from which they are served - they’re never force carbonated. The natural conditioning creates ale that is smooth, naturally carbonated, and full of flavor.
Today, BridgePort Brewing Company is one of the top specialty brewers in the state of Oregon. As BridgePort Brewing grew in popularity, it also grew in its brewing capacity from its 600-barrel beginnings to over 100,000 barrels per year. Distribution has grown from Portland to 18 states, and the brewery’s emphasis on producing quality, innovative ales has provided it with an international following and numerous awards.

12 oz bottle into shaker. Nice lemony citrus aroma (I’m used to grapefruit more with this style, which is also present, but not as forward as the lemon); pine (spruce?) is prominent. Smells like a Christmas tree; clean. Pours hazy orangish gold with minimal head that leaves a nice collar of foam and decent lacing. Some floaties in here (expired? I don’t know, but it doesn’t taste so.). Taste is nice, if a bit standard. Not overly bitter--just a tinge. It’s fruity and floral--the hallmarks of this style. Tangy aftertaste lingers on the tongue. Carbonation is medium-high. Overall, a very nice IPA, yet it pushes no boundaries. Sometimes it’s nice to have these straightforward styles in this era of big experimental brews, though.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a clear orange color with a medium and foamy light beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Citrusy hops, pine and malt in the nose. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character, along with flavors of pine, fruity esters and sweet malt for balance. The finish is hoppy with a lingering grapefruit aftertaste. Above average overall.
