Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden color with a medium thin and fizzy white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Faintly floral Euro-hops aroma with a bit of malt. Light body with flavors of mildly spiced hops and sweet malt. A hint of grapefruit as well. The finish is mildly hoppy and short. Barely average overall.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark amber brown with a low off-white head. Aroma is toffee and perhaps light vanilla. Near full in body with creamy, frothy carbonation. Flavor is sweet dark malt, with definite vanilla and some woody astringency. Finishes more sweet than bitter. But there is bitter in the finish as the sweet washes away. The bourbon barrel imparts the sort of smoothness found in Paradox ales, and enhances a scotch ale into a higher orbit.

Bottle 75cl. @ Chris O’s Night of the Gaylords.Unclear hazy medium red amber orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, wheat, caramel notes, moderate yeasty, tart berry - fruity, cherry notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light light acidic with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20091229]

This beer comes with 3-D glasses for reading the label. It produces a tall, thick tan head when poured, and sits nicely over a deep dense brown body. Roast malt aromas. Balanced flavor but unimaginative.

$7.50 for a six pack of DIPA? - sweet! - well, I suppose it would be sweet if the beer were better, anyway - pours a completely clear copper color - faint ring of bubbles - smells and tastes kind of like a stronger version of a british ipa, rather than the american beast you expect it to be - the hops are dry, bitter, chalky, but not crisp and punchy like one wants from a DIPA - they even become a little soapy on the back end - this is supported by a bready malt base that fails to contribute much aside from a generic sweetness that doesn’t compliment the hops at all - some heat and peppery character on the tail end - I mean, I love most all hops, so it doesn’t taste terrible to me, but there isn’t a whole lot happening here.

12 oz. bottle, pours golden yellow. Subtle bread and hops on the nose. Flavour is hops, biscuit and some floral notes. Decent IPA.

Taste: Pine, citrus, lemon peel. Bitterness and malts at the finish that stick with you.
I love a good hoppy beer, but this just doesn’t have the right combination of hops for my taste.

Bottle at Chriso Gaylord tasting 09. Another of Ken’s masterpieces of trading. Cloudy orange red colour. Thin white head. Bit of cherry almond on the aroma. Not veyr cherry fruity in the mouth. Easy drinking. OK.

Bottled@The Chriso Gaylord tasting. Orange colour, not much head. Aroma is tart fruits, some sligt wooden notes as well as herbs. Mild cherry pips as well. Flavour is spices, sour wooden notes, mild tartness as well as some fruityness and mild earthyness.

Bottle: Pours a dull, brownish orange color with a light haze to it. A small, but creamy and lasting sandy head. Nose of florals and caramel, but rather mild. First sip is tingly, kind of has a champagne type thing going on. Behind the bubbles are some florals, earthy tones, and bready malt. Not a lot of hops going on for a fresh hop ale. After sitting for a while, the bubbles go away and the floral bitters stand out better. Still, room for improvement.
