Description
Craft beer is a passion, an obsession and a journey. This journey has opened our eyes (and taste buds) to some of the finest examples of beer this planet has to offer. Our tastes and expectations have forever changed, and so have our methods of enjoyment. From beer trades, to home brewing, to attending release parties and festivals one thing became clear… We rarely drink the same beer over and over again, and we love to share.

Draft pour at Ocelot. This one poured a slightly cloudy yellow-orange and a white head atop. Aroma was dank notes, tropical fruits: guava, mango, terror from the tropics. Bitter hop and booze finish.

Draft pour at Ocelot. Poured a very dark brown color, perhaps almost pitch black color. Dark wispy, bubbles atop. Aroma was woody, vanilla. Smooth, boozy notes. Bitter dark chocolates. It’s pretty smooth, but has a touch of bitterness that keeps it from hitting the next level.

Ever so slightly hazy golden body with a very nice, four centimetre tall pure white head that leaves a nice lace on the glass. Aroma of pure grass, hay, spice and yeast - very nice and hugely saison-y with a bit of tropical fruit hoppiness. Medium-bodied; Super assertive grassy, herbal, yeastie and barnyardie flavours with a good dry hop kick near the end, all showing some strong and subdued herbal elements along with a bit of an earthy bite near the end. Aftertaste is all about the funk, grass and especially spice characteristics that come with this one, and the yeast is definitely up there as well. Overall, a nicely layered and aggressively pungent ’saison/IPA’ hybrid that shows some belgian characteristics, but this is about dry notes, herbs, spices and a good yeast strain. I sampled this thirty two ounce growler fill on draught at home in Washington about 13 hours after getting it filled on 15-May-2016 for US$5,30 from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia.

750ml bottle pours a murky, caramel amber with some clumpy, white head. Nose has caramel and booze, vanilla, fair amount of wooden barrel, rootbeer, a little anise. Flavor follows, quite woody, heavy turbinado sugar and caramel, some vegetal/anise notes. Finishes a touch astringent. A few months on this and people will like this more than Abacus/Sucuba.
