12oz bottle. Filtered yellow-tan body. Foamy white head. Probably one of the most straightforward of the wave of Mexican Lagers that I’ve had. Drinks pretty true to stye, with a higher quality malt bill. Could use a hint more malt depth. Either way a pretty decent session beer.

Dark brown with thin lacy head. Aroma is full of creamy chocolate. Flavour is similar. Texture is a bit thin and it’s a bit too gassy. Otherwise a nice sweet chocolate beer.

From old tasting notes. Dark brown, black nearly opaque color with a tan head. Complex roasted malt aroma, reminiscent of scorched coffee and chocolate. Intense roasted malt flavor has intense coffee notes upfront. Rich roasted malt in middle. Toned down hop finish. Full bodied flavor, yet subtle and smooth.

Tap industry public house. Pale clear yellow. Odd unique pale lager aroma of mild cream corn. Taste is mild mexican style beer fer sure. Has a little bit of dirt flavor in the background. Smooth, easy and enjoyable, could drink a few of these babies. Fun to the end.

Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/25/2017. The beer is a clear brown color with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily to a film. Small patches of lace. Chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Light to medium body with flavors of roasted coffee, malt, vanilla and chocolate. The finish is sweet with a tiramisu aftertaste. Above average overall.

Variety is the spice of life or so I hear. Porters just do not really do it for me. So here we go with one called Shake. Obtained through a beer of the month club which sounded like a good deal at the time. I pour it into a tall glass stein and let it settle. It is definitely a pretty dark brown in appearance with a slender top of finely bubbled tan foam. Lifting it to me nose I get cocoa, grain and bread. The taste is initially definitely milk chocolate, wheat and rice and a hint of sweetness. There is a coffee overtone too. It finishes with a slight bitterness. Worth a try. Likely not on my menu going forward though.

Draft at Yard House, Red Rock Resort, Las Vegas. Pours jet black with a beige head. Very chocolatey aroma. Tastes like very sweet chocolate syrup. This would make a great ice cream topping, but as a beer, it’s not that great. Too sweet. Did not finish.

I got this from a beer club sampler. Appearance is pretty fine, I see a dark amber with a lingering, almost white foam. The nose contains a woody, lemony scent. For taste I find a slightly hoppy edge along with some citrus and meadow, a metallic ending. A session beer so that kick is just not there.

A: 24k gold colour, 2 fingers of foam with a vigorous pour. Decent lacing.
S: Whiskey nose with some wheat and roasted notes. Caramel malt sweetness grows the more I take whiffs.
T: Whiskey is strong, caramel malt is strong, the wheat is there as is a peculiar sharpness that’s hard to describe. Just saying that it throws off the direction that the beer was going in in a decidedly negative way.
M: A bit thin bodied for a brew as abv strong as it is. Good carbonation.
O: I am typically disappointed with the majority of Boulder beers. This is no exception.

Draft. A- Whisky, chocolate, coffee, oak. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Whisky, oak, cocoa, subtle coffee. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Not too shabby from a brewery I usually don’t like. The whisky aging is definitely present but not too boozy. The base stout is decent too. Nice amounts of coffee and chocolate.
