After sucking down countless Shitty lagers in Western Australia, I’ve found beer nirvana in the east. Dark seems to be the strength. Another great RIS, mellow but with a kick in the aftertaste. These RIS come on normal (think Guinness) but pack a wallop. Nice to see as t hides the burn. Murrays has the style down pat.

Hard to believe this is a ten percenter. Smooth and chocolaty. Head fades fast. Very mild and subdued, but subtle flavors accumulate and linger. This a nice one to savor.

330ml bottle from Bitter Phew, 2012 vintage. Beautiful from the start. Aroma wafts up and provides signs of great things to come. Black slippery body with oil skin beige head. Taste is equal parts roast grain and woody flavors. High ABV is masked by all of the other sumptuous characters.

330ml bottle into glass. Balanced nose of hops and malt. A little bit of lemon sherbet, nice. Dark amber beer with solid white head. Mouthfeel is light, bitter and flat. Finish is a touch of malt then tangy bitterness which lasts. Very well balanced. Good for a few.

On tap at Murray’s brewpub. Pours golden yellow with a big head. Faintly sweet nose. Quite sweet for a Pilsner too, but in a good balance with the bitterness. A bit watery towards the finish. A good take on Pilsner if you ask me.

On tap at The Local Taphouse. Pours a light color, but I can’t tell which one because of the light. Weak nose, but a tasty sweet and light body. Dry finish. Feels well seasonable.

Hmm...looking at the packaging I think Murrays have got ’mod’ and ’rude boy’ confused. Close but not the same. Anyway on with the beer...330ml bottle into glass. Nice citric hop nose. Slightly hazy pale amber beer with medium carbonation, thin but solid white head. Creamy bitter taste followed by lingering intense bitterness. Really good.

330ml bottle into glass. Sweet nose. Hazy light amber beer with scummy head. Light bodied with a short lightly citric finish. Just OK, nothing more.
