Thick dense darker yellow head, quite stable, over deep red-shot dark brown beer. Speculaasherbs, milkchocolate, dark malts, lots of melanoidins, plywood. Yeasty flavour, sweetish. Faint chocolate & woody notes, bit of liquorice and indeed lots of melanoidins. Finish has the peculiar kind of acidity one gets often in the aftertaste of black chocolate. Medium bodied, quite slick, good carbonation. Stereotypical. At least it's quite drinkable.

Very huge & dense yellowish head, fed by fine carbonation in a verdigris-tinted copper beer, veiled. Roasted/toasted, 'hot' nose, garden weeds, bit of fatty acids and other yeast offshoots, soupy. Even faraway coriander. Even more soupy in taste, again coriander impression; unripe vegetables, soured pumpkin. Faint backthroat acidity, probably linked to the fatty acids. Sweetness as from grains, seeds, kept too long in the mouth. Slick, bit oily feel, enlightened by the CO²/acidity. Very good carbonation. Something is not right here.

From the bottle. Light brown with a frothy to creamy head that lingers. Aroma of pine, orange peel, toffee. Pleasant. The hops are quite present compared to most brews of this style. Taste is moderate bitter with sweet caramel undertones. Finishes with an uptick in bitterness. Body is medium. Overall, a nice one.

New Belgian ‘streekbier’ – everybody has a contracted beer these days, it seems – named after a small village near Aarschot, brewed at Anders. On the market since last year but very limitedly so. Snow white, thick and frothy, tightly membrane-lacing, stable head over a lightly hazy, pure yellow-golden blonde beer with fierce sparkling, misty with sediment. Aroma of unripe banana, wet white paper, coriander seed, pear, raw pineapple, soggy sandwiches, plaster, raw potato, jute bags, wodka, chewing gum. Cleanly fruity onset, banana, some green apple, hard pear and raw pineapple notes, bubblegummy accent but not too much, minerally and souring carbonation, very lively; slick pale malt sweetish body, white bread pulp, cereally, with lingering banana ester and eventually strong coriander spiciness drenched in ‘jenever’-like alcohol; a green apple-like note lingers. Something in between ‘ordinary’ Belgian blonde ale and Duvel-inspired ‘edelbier’; correct, but very uninspired in itself, though I can see this functioning commercially on the local market of non-too-geeky beer drinkers.

Bottle @ home. Very hazy unclear pale yellow color, full sized white head that lasts for a long time. Aroma and flavor are moderately malty, as the label suggest it's got a lot of tropical fruit, citrussy, slight saison-ish notes in the distance. Lots of hops. Indeed a milkshaky texture. Sweetish rather than bitter if any bitterness at all. Decent to medium body and carbonation. Decent to solid I'd say.

Bottle @ home. Unclear hazy orange color, full sized bubbly white to off-white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, sweet floral. Flavor is malts, again floral, sweet, notes of artificial banana candy sweets. No hops there imo, at least not many. Not totally unpleasant though, just pretty sweet and not my thing.
