Pint on tap at Club Rivers, Riverwood. Amber beer with a thin white head. High fine carbonation. Spicy peppery nose with faint hints of bubblegum and nettles. Good sequential lacing. Taste is bitter, refreshing, cleansing. Finish has a lingering herbal dankness that distracts from the refreshing aspects. Lemony but a bit too complex for a quaffer.

British India is a band, BTW. Can. Cloudy amber with a frothy 2cm white head. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, light bread. Slightly biscuity too with a touch of sweetness before tropical fruit and then citrus sweep through towards a moderately bitter finish. Nice but not sure what makes it British.

Can. Reddish pink with a white head that fizzes away immediately. Aroma of raspberries, cracker dough funk, spicy oak, hint of ointment. Light bodied with modest carbonation. Not as boldly fruity as suggested by the aroma; the berries sink into the funk and woody/ medicinal flavours. Lowish bitterness. Moody, interesting.

375ml can from Copper & Oak. Hazy white-yellow colour, short-lived bubbly white foam head and aroma of ginger, apple, floral. Taste is sweet, apple, fruity, floral, with ginger and mellow citric acidity. Medium bodied, light carbonation, medium-sweet drying gingery light acidic finish. Quite OK.

Can. Opaque yellowish orange with a loose cm of white head. Aroma of grapefruit, oranges and crackers. Hints of mango and pineapple. Pretty much how it tastes. Dryish with a moderately bitter and very slightly astringent finish. Malt seems to contribute nothing. Refreshing, straightforward.

Can. Very dark brown with an inch of mid tan head. Fresh coffee aroma with light chocolate and lighter still roasted malt and white pepper. Just a little sweet with more dark sugars and chocolate than milky sweetness. Coffee is prominent rather than dominant and the chocolate gradually fattens things up before a moderately bitter finish. Not a lot of depth but a good weight and very drinkable.
