Bottle shared in London - thanks to Kenny. Pours mostly clear brown with a creamy tan head. Somewhat yeasty nose, some toffee, bread. Medium sweet flavor with some ripe berries, bread, caramel, strawberry. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming finish with sticky sugars, bread, ripe berries. So so.

29th May 2015: 15oz pour, on-tap at the Seal Beach Beachwood BBQ bar. Cloudy yellow with a white topping that faded very quickly. Not too ’farm yard’ in nature, semi-sour with citrus notes really. The aroma held a mixed bag of fruitiness all crushed together: lemons, melons and sweeter tropical stuff like star fruit. The taste followed along the same lines with the sourness being provided by the citrus flavours within the brew. I really enjoyed it.

Capped, waxed 750 from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma has lots of cocoa, a fair amount of bourbon, and maybe figs. Some spice as well. Full bodied or nearly. Flavor starts with alcohol, but that works here. There is a lot of Xmas spice, with chocolate, wood, treacle and bourbon. Drinks pretty good. Maybe a bit heavy on spice for spring, but timing isn’t everything? I don’t think heat is a problem, but my tongue is burning a bit along the edges. Very nice winter ale.
