A pretty nice example of what I'd want in an oldschool English barleywine. Loads of dried fruit, some spicyness and a bit of boozyness that does remind me of christmas cakes and winter evenings. The whisky is there, the truffles are not. A bit rough, tho

Can at home. Black color, average sized beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, soft roast, cocoa, maybe some vanilla indeed. Quite nice. Solid body and carbonation. Quite nice.

Small if stable dark beige head over fully opaque black beer. Heavy sweet roast, benzene, Japanese quality sake, old whisky barrels, vanilla, faint smoke. Sweet, vanilla, hint at lactic acid and double cream. Bailey's, incense (in the finish). Also vinous, red wine, boerejongens (raisins on spirit), blue grapes and whisky. Pralines filled with double cream, whisky and dark fruit ganache. Full bodied & over, viscous, chewy, alcoholheat to ultimate warming. Superb. Costs a fortune, but it delivers.

330ml can as part of a delivery from Hops & Dots and drunk at home. Mid- to dark brown and translucent with a small amount of khaki head. Toasted coconut to the fore in the aroma, with light notes of chocolate fudge cake and vanilla. Sweet taste, caramel and more coconut, turning lightly bitter/sour with gentle stone-fruit and blackberry notes. Wonderfully balanced finish. Medium to heavy body, carbonation on the soft side. A very tasty imperial stout.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber-tinged brown with a small beige head. Nose is remarkably smooth, with whiskey barrels, subtle truffles, and light toasted caramel. Flavour is surprisingly smooth and elegant, with subtle whiskey barrels upfront, accentuated by light umami from the truffles, and toasted bready malt. Not all that sweet for the style, which is appreciated. The whiskey barrels combine with the mushroomy character nicely. Very nicely done.
