Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy dark golden color with a small white head that faded quickly. The aroma was strong tangy tropical fruit and sugar. The flavor was gritty sugar, candied orange and grape, tropical fruit, and a touch of vague dry spices. The finish was long, tangy a bit spicy with tropical fruit lingering. The mouthfeel was thick. Solid.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy faint pink-orange-amber color with a medium sized pink-white head. The aroma was dryish, tart and fruity with notes of cherry and berry. The flavor was dryish, tarty and fruity with notes of cherry, berry and definite passionfruity. Throughout the beer was dryish, must and faintly spicy with a meidum length fruit and mustiness. Interesting.

Courtesy of Gillard. The label is very 4-0 inspired (i.e. street legal). Pours gold with thin white head. The aroma is sweet apples, honey and thin faintly hot esters. The taste is full rich sweetness of apple wedges soaking in honey and light colored fruity esters. I then get some yeast and a sense of soap into the finish.

Bottle: Poured a deep pitch-black stout with a motor oil consistency and a small foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt is detectable but mainly dominated by bourbon notes. Taste is also dominated by bourbon notes with a bit too much alcohol for my taste with light vanilla finish. Body is full with good carbonation and alcohol is too apparent. Very well done but I can’t say I enjoy barrel-aging with alcohol is so present.

22oz bottle-pours a big white head and hazy orange/yellow color with small floaties. Aroma is pepper, some clove, coriander, wheat, fruit, yeast. Taste is pepper, tangy orange zest, some sweet grain/wheat, herbal. An interesting beer that grew on me as I got further into it. One suggestion: do 12 oz bottles or with 22’s I suggest a swirl to get the solids evenly distributed. Thanks jwc215 for picking this one out.

on tap @Philly BeerFest III–pours a white head and hazy yellow/gold color. Aroma is sweet light malt, herbal, yeast. Taste is sweet light malt, herbal, dry/funky yeast.

Bottle (with silver cap). Pours a coppery amber with four full fingers of head and aromas that are somewhat light, but promise some piny hops and sweet malts. As it sits a little the head recedes very slowly and a little more grapefruit comes out in the nose. Flavor is pretty heavy on the grain and malt, but has an herbal hops edge to it and a pine needle finish.

Bottle (yellow cap... don’t know if that will be important information or not). (I moved this rating over after understanding the cap system.) Murky orange body... medium to small head that laces a bit as it quickly fades. Aromas are thick of hops... grapefruit, pineapple and caramel. We’re off to a good start. Flavor is a little undisciplined. Piney/grapefruity hops flavor seems to be a bit adrift without a good malt anchor. There is some sweetness there to balance a little, but there isn’t the grain body that would dampen the blow. Still, following the first sip, I find that things are balancing more. (It could be that my poor little tastebuds have all headed out for the night or are lying dead in a pile somewhere.) I’m really not sure quite what to make of this other than that Voodoo’s pricing is WAY high.
