Since 2015 we brew our "Original Ritterguts Gose" in close collaboration with Brauerei Reichenbrand in Chemnitz. This small, classic family-brewery fulfills all the requirements necessary for the optimization of our very special brewing process -- in particular the availability of open-fermentation, which we consider a primary component in making a proper gose.

Bottled (KCM Puuvilla). Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is lime, some salts, mild herbs and earth. Flavour is somewhat sweet malty with some salts, mild wooden tartness and some lime to it. A bit coriander shows too as it warms up a bit.

Bottle, best before date missing (as far as I can tell), drunk 1/13/23. Undisturbed pour is clear, light golden-brass. Very, very large, frothy, white head, strong retention. Smells fantastic while pouring. Light lactic tartness with lemony acidity and just a hint of salty smoke. Soft, nutty, creamy, buttery wheat and light malts with a dollop of honey. Clean, buttery (not diacetyl) with a bit of peppery phenol from smoke or yeast. In the mouth it's soft, buttery, creamy, rich yet drying heavily with smoke, light lactic tartness and lemony acidity. Lots of lingering salted smoked butter. Not sure this needs yeast stirred in, as it's plenty soft and well-textured and the acidity isnt rampant/unbalanced, but nonetheless, adding in the yeast produces an even creamier, softer beer less reliant on acid and smoke. I think I prefer it with no yeast, though it's certainly intensely soft and creamy with the yeast. Either way, cool beer. Ample texture and flavor for its size, clean, no alcohol or flaw.

500 ml bottle. Unclear dark orange with a foamy head. Stone fruit, lactic acid, metallic notes, sea salt, lemon juice, grapefruit. Dry sourness, metallic bitterness. Light bodied, oily watery texture, lively carbonated, dry acidic sour metallic abrupt finish. Decent mouthfeel at the beginning with a rapid loss of flavor and body. Disappointing.

(Draught at Protokoll, Berlin, 30 July 2022) Hazy golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with bread, citrus, coriander and a touch of sour smoke. Fruity, malty taste with notes of peaches, citrus, bread, coriander, a touch of salt and a slightly sourish finish with a light smoke touch. Medium body, dry. Interesting, and quite tasty. Smoke touch quite delicate. Nice one.

Pale yellow colour with lasting low density head. Aroma of whey and perfumed soap. Taste has a fresh, citrusy sharpness. Light, leathery smokiness too.
Sweet-sour-smoky with lemony touches.
