Description
When we started making brilliant, innovative beer back in 1983, the craft beer thing was just a glint in Harvie’s eye. Now, more than 35 years later, we are proud to be the forefathers of this movement to better beer. Harviestoun is a proud, family-run business, our Chairmen Sandy Orr and Donald MacDonald champion a dedication to the craft that produces award-winning, natural brews made using the finest ingredients and purest Scottish water.
Founded in 1983 by Ken Brooker, the Scottish brewery has grown steadily to become renowned for their award winning beers. Head brewer, Stuart Cail, joined Harviestoun in 1995. Over the years the brewery has found new and innovative ways to create truly unique beers from their whisky cask aged Old Engine Oil to Bitter and Twisted, aged in Gin and Pinot Noir barrels.

Sampled cask conditioned. Near black. Heavy burnt, roasty aroma. Softly malty, very dry. Mealy mouthfeel. Filling. Finishes salty with hints of licorice. A really nice cask porter!

Sampled cask conditioned. Pale yellow. Vanilla and citrus aroma. Light bodied, rather sweet with orangey finish. Very refreshing. Seems like they have something similar to summer in Scotland too...

Sampled cask conditioned. Deep golden. Sweetish, bitterish. More fruity, and less crisp than other beers from this brewery.

Pale amber. Dry and bitter with hints of citrus and pine needles. Like most Harviestoun beers the mouthfeel is light, near sparkling.

Earthy, light hop, followed by a firm maltiness and some cocoa notes. Robust bitterness, slightly orangey notes. Great unfolding flavours.

Lemony, toasty aroma w/ slight plum & strawberry esters. Light bronze colour. Clean malt accent with notes of nuts, toast; herbally-hoppy background with a hint of earthy bitterness. Vaguely lemony – the challenger hop signature the label tells me about. Nicely balanced, though perhaps some more malty fullness would help it out.
