Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours golden with a slight haze and an off-white head. Lovely - and intense - citrusy hops. Solid body, very sweet caramel and fruit with loads of delicious aroma hops - never heard of Rakau hops though. Solid bitterness. Good one. 090710

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, over ripe fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and grapefruit, leading to a dry and bitter finish. The alcohol bites the tongue.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a lumpy 2 inch head in a large tulip. Aroma is very restrained, but good: a nice balance of chocolate and roasted malt, coffee, dried fruit, grass. Taste is bigger - bittersweet mocha, prunes, a little citrus, floral and grassy hops. Long, slightly woody dry finish. Flavorsome and involving but still light and easy-drinking. [3.9]Black with brown edges, lovely beige head that laces well. Aroma has mingled roast and grassy hops, chocolate, coffee, muscatels. Fills the mouth. Taste is just sweet with fried fruit, then modest roasted malt, coffee and good chocolate. Drying, moderately bitter finish is long. Graceful.

Luscious, chocolately hints on both nose and palate. Very full burnt red colour and big, creamy mouth feel. Alcohol levels are not overly apparent or overbearing. Best beer I tasted on my week in the Marlborough.

Bottle, 10C. Amber with a small tightly-packed beige head. Medium bead. Aroma: earth, fruit, resin and spice over toffee and shortcake. Taste has lots of butterscotch with earth and spices. Long, rather genteel bitterness. A tad heavy - I liked it but I didn’t fancy another - and the malt character verged on caricature.

Golden - a little bit dull. Thin head. The aroma is a little bit medicinal and a tiny bit citrusy. A light bit of bitterness. This has a hint of herbal hop. Fairly dry, crisp and slightly lemony finish.

Dull tan. The aroma has light fruit, mincemeat tart and a little bit of butter. On the palate, there is plenty of butter - toasted butter even - along with soft anglohops and light caramel.

Bottled. A hazy pale golden beer with a slight pinkish accent under an off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of fruits - peaches and grapefruits, as well as medium notes of hops and yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of grass, grapefruit, malt, lemon, and lighter notes of hay, leading to a quite bitter finish.
