Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

330ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, reddish amber colour with small, frothy, fading, white head. Lactic, tart-ish, fruity aroma, hints of cherry, a touch of sauerkraut. Taste is dry, tart, fruity, notes of cherry and morello, a wheaty touch of banana, minimally lactic undertones with a sauerkraut touch. A bit anaemic overall.

Bottle. Hazy orange, offwhite low head. Cheesecake citrus and tropical hops. Medium body, sparkly, a bit buttermilk smoothie on the tongue. Metallic grapes and melonrind, limepeel, ginger, a hint crystal meth, fizzlestick finish. In the end actually not as sticky as most DIPAs.

Tastes quite smokey to me. Buried underneath there are hints in scotch. It is a strong beer and quite bitter to balance it. All around decent, I would like more body. Castle Berlin
