Description
WELCOME TO OLD NATION

Those who know what goes into our beer, understand that it’s a modern-day treasure chest. One you’d almost rather collect than drink … almost. It’s the kind of magic that only happens when you honor tradition, throw the rulebook out the window, mix techniques – not just ingredients – and aren’t afraid to fail until you don’t. It’s why our overnight success was more than 15 years in the making. And why we’ll never stop experimenting just because we’ve brewed another “next big thing.”

Cloudy medium orange-brown body, thick puffy cream head. Aroma sweet and tart with mixed tropical fruits. Body is sugary and somewhat flabby with potent fermented tropical fruits (pineapple and papaya, especially) and some orange rind with modest bitter tannins. Flavor and palate are like a tropical fruit cup in a simple syrup. Inelegant and somewhat artificial.

I'm clearing out my stash of tart fruit beers for this summer, so I can get deep into octoberfest, then stouts. And yes, pumpkin beers. This pours a standard Golden cream ale color, with a nice foamy head. There's a nice light smell of peach in the nose. This actually has a nice peach taste. Not too much tartness, thank goodness. A light malt taste, which befits this style, and lets the peach flavor come in. Despite using the word tart” in the name and description, they do have some room for fruit sweetness.

Can from The Party Center. Pours a clear pale old with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a slightly earthy grass, hay and light straw with just a touch of wet pine coming through. Flavor is similar with slightly dank and earthy grass, a good amount of hay and some straw with just a bit of pine bite.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a hazy pink grapefruit color with a finger of off-white foam that lingers. Raspberry and vanilla on the nose with some raspberry skin aromas as it warms. Palate is similar with more raspberry skin and seed. A nice tart note. Drier on the palate with a dry finish. Enjoyable!
