Bomber. Pours a slightly hazy amber with light head. Aromas of grapefruit and toasted malts. Flavors of pine, melon, and doughy malts. Very nice.

On Tap at the Boise BP Clear light golden orange with a modest but fine and creamy white head. Picturesque really. Faint light malt aroma lightly perfumey. Light grain malt flavor with some spiciness and herbal zing. Not the bland flavors I expected. Definitely something going on here and not just a quaff-able fire putter outer for the chips and salsa I am munching on. A traditionally boring style that has some character in this example. A nice surprise.

On tap at the Boise BP came is a large snifter, clear redish brown with a full, thick light tan head. Sweet brown sugar and aroma and flavors with a little holiday spice. Cinnamon maybe. Bust have been a huge OG as this is claimed 9.5 ABV but still plenty of residual sugars. A little boozy and slick and sticky palate. The IBUs come in late and there is not quite the bite to balance the sweetness. Would not have guessed 80 IBU

Pour is a thick looking brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice toffee with sticky malts and loads of brown sugar. Flavor is again more toffee, maybe some black bread with some plum marmalade. Finish is dark fruit and sugar. I don’t really get much of the hops but this has enough chewy and dark bready malt to carry it over to the solid category.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in Rathdrum, ID. Aroma consists of dough, toast, dark fruit, roasty coffee, wet river rock. Pours black but has red highlights in the light; has a medium beige head with decent retention. Taste is sweet, finishing dry. Roasty flavors backed by faint hoppy citrus. Creamy mouthfeel with a medium body. More like a faintly hoppy schwarzbier than a black IPA.

Crisp deep brown coloured body with some muddy brown and ruby highlights and a very thick, four centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nuts, earth, toffee, figs, light hops, caster sugar and a bit of yeast and bananas. Medium-bodied; Assertive toasty malt flavours at first with a metallic and yeastie finish with a little sweetness and hop kick at the end. Aftertaste shows some subdued spices, a bit of dry and vanilla yeast kick and a touch of earthiness from the malt at the end. Overall, a well done deep ale with some pungent flavours and relatively good complexity. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods (Pearl) in Portland, Oregon on 07-December-2013 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 05-January-2014.

Draft @ Tomato Bros. Served too cold in a pint glass… dark golden with no more than a ring of white head. After a few minutes of warming, the nose opens up with florals, nuts, and caramel. Some toffee. Flavor is more floral based with a good caramel and earthy base. Lightly sweet, but mostly florals that lack the ‘umph.’ I was hoping for more hops today, but the good flavors are bonding well and it works.

On tap at the Boise BP Black with a full creamy light tan head. Soft roasty aroma with faint coffee and bitter chocolate. Flavor is more malty and moderate dark roast. Smooth soft feel and a little chalky feel at the end and a touch of that classic porter sourness/bite. Very nice flavors.
